Note 4 (N910A) unable to get into recovery mode

Unfortunately I left the phone on in its waterproof/dustproof cover, inside my fully-packed bag with no breathing space and in the car with windows rolled up under the hot sun for several hours.
Once I retrieved my phone it was already boot-looping.
It was very hot. I opened it up to see if there was anything burnt inside (motherboard, camera, SIM, etc.) but didn't see anything out of the ordinary (I'm no expert either).
It gets very warm quickly when I charge it.

I tried to get into the boot recovery mode to see if I could fix the loop by deleting cache or formatting or whatever tips I came across. It would boot, show the Note 4 Samsung Logo with the blue-lettered "recovery boot" in the top left-hand corner, vibrate, then restart and rinse and repeat.

The only hope I have is that it can get into download mode and I have not rooted the phone yet (and I have tried unsuccessfully so far). Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Help to unbrick Allwinner A13 e-reader

I own an e-reader built on an Allwinner A13 platform. The device is a Bookeen Cybook Muse.
I have bricked it, but do not have any flashable ROM. But, instead I got here; this guy managed to create custom rooted ROMs for this kind of ereaders by manipulating the updating package, which is automatically read and applied when the file CybUpdate.bin is detected in the flash memory.

How to access Samsung J1 (SM-J100H) service mode to change 3g bands

Hi!

I got this phone (SM-J100H) in Ecuador and now, back in Argentina, I found out that it is not able to connect to 3g networks. As far as I know, here in Argentina the 3g bands are 850-1900, while the specs of the phone state that it works for 900-2100 :/. I couldn't find any concrete information on how to change the bands (or if it's even possible for this specific phone), but it seems that there could be some option in the "service mode" menu. Anyway, I'm not being able to access it. Apparently, I should be able to do so by dialing *#0011# and then doing some kind of trick. For example, going "back" and then giving the keyinput "Q" and then "0000". Also found some other guy who said that you should go "back" and then giving keyinput "1". Neither worked for me despite the phone is rooted.

Android version: 4.4.4 (stock, came with the unlocked phone)
Baseband version: J100HXXU0AOF2

Does this happen to anyone else? When you try to take a screenshot you get an error message that says: "Unable to capture screenshot. Prevented by security policy."
Screenshot works on my fathers phone (which isnt rooted) but it doesnt work on mine (which is rooted)

Problems after stock update

Hi, I have an XT1063 Moto G, completely stock, and I've been having two different problems since the Stagefright update.

First, I haven't been able to download any updates or new apps from the Play Store. I've had to install new apps by downloading the apk file elsewhere.

The second problem is that my wifi icon shows an exclamation mark and stays like that even though wifi is working correctly and I'm able to browse or download properly (and it actually uses wifi data, not my cell carrier) It does the same thing when I'm off wifi, it shows the exclamation mark but I'm still able to use data properly.

I thought I'd be able to fix both problems by doing a hard reset on the phone, but both of them remained after I did that and I'm completely out of ideas :crying:

Ok google issue?

Hi,

I have recently installed Kybui Rom running 5.1.1 lollipop on my note 4 N10F variant. Everything works great except google now. There isn't any options for ok google anywhere only ok google in app. Its not like they're greyed out either they're completely missing from the app completely. I've tried disabling S-voice, downgrading the google app but nothing gets it working at all.

I seem to be the only person having this issue which is even more frustrating though have read about it happening on S6 devices but can't seem to find a solution. Does anyone know how I can get this back? I know I can use nova launcher and there's open mic+ to do it but nova only works on homescreen and open mic is dodgy when veiwing videos last time I used that app so just want it working natively again.

Bluetooth suddenly killing battery

Several days ago my phone starting dropping battery much faster than usual. While I am at work I barely touch my phone and some days I will only use 15% over an 8 hour period. This suddenly increased to about 40-50% a few days ago. I tracked it down to the bluetooth being enabled or not. My bluetooth has been always-on for the last several months without an issue. Now I can see the battery discharge rate increase immediately when the bluetooth is turned on. I've attached a screenshot showing the problem. I had the bluetooth off in the morning and you can see the slow discharge. I turned it on for several hours and you see the steep discharge until I turned it off again and the discharge levels out. It was not connected to anything during the entire day. Does anyone have any idea why this would suddenly happen? I am going to have to turn off my bluetooth when not in use until I figure this out.

n00b needs help!!!

I'm a semi-experienced android-er, I've rooted several devices and understand how Roms, Recovery, Odin, EFS Pro, Cygwin, etc.. work and what to do with them. I can't however, figure out how to root my Verizon S4 (lollipop) OR install a custom recovery mod. I have a stock .md5 that I can flash with Odin - I've tried modifying the PIT file and swapping recovery img's etc... and everything goes smoothly untill I get to the modified file and then I get an auth error. Can anyone help me get past this?

Moto 360 Debugging Connection Issues

I can't seem to get my Moto 360 to prompt for authorization through to ADB with Bluetooth debugging. I've tried multiple ports, I've tried resetting the watch, and I've made sure (multiple times) that Bluetooth debugging is turned on at both the phone and watch (phone is USB to PC). ADB debugging is working just fine for the phone and the phone is already authorized. The Moto 360 never asks for authorization either on the phone or watch. Does anyone have any idea what the issue might be?

The particular error is 10061, cannot connect to localhost:4444 no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

lg g2 bricked

hello, i just tried to flash cloudyg2 3.3 and i have bricked my d802 16gb. i had stock lp and had rooted and installed twrp did the wipes (no internal), got the right lp bootstack and used the right settings, so i really dont know what went wrong.

the symptom is that lg logo show for a fraction of a second and then a washed out gray on top of screen that fades away slowly. also while connected in pc it reads like many many drives.

on the bright side i can enter recovery/download modes. in my original attempt i used the bumbed sign, on my tries to fix it i also used the loki one, same deal.

seems like i have no recovery file, i thought i did it with one of the programs i installed, but since i am newbie seems like i misunderstood. so no recovery file

any help? ;)

I can't connect to my phone when in fastboot mode

When my phone is in fastboot mode (blue LED) FlashTool log prints message "INFO - Device connected in fastboot mode" but this is all what I can get. Nothing else works in this mode. FlashTool wants me to set device into fastboot mode but it is in this mode at the moment.

I open the flash menu and then press cancel to stop the flash. The phone keeps working as normal, but I am unable to flash the FTF.
I am excluding system since I flashed my own-made pre-rooted FTF through TWRP.

Is there anybody familiar with this problem?

Return to stock rom when rooted already - D852

I have a LG G3 D852 that I rooted and installed TRWP on it. I modified many things on this stock lollipop rom. I want to return it back to original condition. I tried the factory reset and it works except it says "Unfortunately, home is not responding." I cant get into the home screen.

Is there a way I can flash a rom to get it back to stock?

When connected to my cars Bluetooth, sounds and google maps volume do not work right.

Anyone else notice this. It only works when I am connected to my cars bluetooth. The volume goes in and out. Also, the touch sounds work then dont work when I am connected to my cars bluetooth. Any fix?

Unfixable broken camera and latest updates from ASUS caused more problems than fixes.

I'm running stock rooted 5.0 on the ASUS_Z008D model of the zenphone 2.

This was originally my girlfriends phone, and she used it about 2 months before I started using it. At the end of those months before I took it, the camera completely stopped working. I looked up the few ways to fix it on google but none of the fixes I found worked. I think it's a hardware problem, but I have no idea truthfully. It always says it's running under another app. I have tried disabling and reenabling it, but nope. Nothing.

That isn't as important as the updates caused. I'm stock rooted, but I've had no problems at all updating the OTA updates ASUS sent out. After the latest one a few weeks ago, the phone finally started having problems that annoy me. Often at times, I send or get sent messages from other people, but the phone never receives or sends them. I've tested this using my siblings or freinds' phones right next to me, textng myself, and I never receive them at all. No delays, just never receive them.

Next, the update caused the phone to have a bunch of random reboots, and constant signal deaths. The phone will constantly completely lose signal, and take a few seconds, maybe a minute or two to reconnect. This usually comes with one to three reboots everyday.

Anyone else experience this or am I alone here? I'm thankful for this phone being awesome for budget price, and the fact it's not mine. (I'll be upgrading to the N 5X on release) But I still wanna know if I can fix this phone to save as a backup.

Moto razr maxx stuck in boot loop, Unable to Re-Flash

HI,

So things goes like this; few months ago my Motorola Razr maxx XT910 (India) stuck in boot loop. I did a lot of research for the solution of problem, then i found RSD Lite and compatible firmware for my device so i flashed my device through RSD lite from " ICS (Asia) to jelly bean (EU) ".
here is the file name ( cdma_spyder_9.8.2O-72_VZW-16_1ff.xml ) the firmware file which i have used for flashing.
Eventually everything was good but from last few days my phone is going into the bootloop again but restarting making it boot properly. But today it is stuck in Boot loop and just looped......

i did wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset from Recovery option but after rebooting it's again into boot loop. I tried RSD lite again to flash again from cdma_spyder_9.8.2O-72_VZW-16_1ff.xml this file but getting below error:

Failed flashing process. 6/16 flash motoboot " motoboot.img " -> Phone returned fail

USB debugging is Enabled if that could help in anyway.

Best adhesive w/o buying a whole new back?

So I purchased a use N6 and there was some work done it. The previous owner didn't apply any new adhesive to the battery cover so it was coming up on the sides where it lost some of the stickiness. I removed all the old foamy adhesive (took forever) and I have tried putting on Scotch double sided tape, but that was too thin, so it also came up on the sides. Now I have tried another foamy type double sided tape but it's too thick...

I really don't wanna purchase a whole new back for 12-20 bucks.. just hoping to find a cheap alternative that works as well as the stock adhesive. Any suggestions?

Solved my random reboot problem

Ok, random reboots were driving me crazy. I have a rooted phone, my son has a bone stock one.

I tried the GPS accuracy, reloading.. etc etc.. average of 4 per day. I was thinking it was part of the accelerometer hardware or software.

Ok, I got my son a new case, same as mine (different color)

He started getting random reboots. Never did before.

He said, I think the case is pressing gently on the buttons and causing a reboot.

I took an exacta knife to my case, cut the rubber button parts out.

Vola! 24 hours later.. No reboots. That is a record for me. :)

Crazy and simple solution.

Roms wont flash?

I dont usually make threads just for questions and just ask them in the question thread but i think this one deserves a thread as i can't find anybody else who has asked this same question.

Basically, i go into recovery and i wipe everything, i then flash the rom, it will go through the process and will say it is successful, however the rom doesnt boot and when i check the system folder through recovery file manager, it is empty. Which means the rom didnt install. How do i fix this?

Strange problem with Clock and /storage/sdcard1 in CM12.1 20150919-Nightly

Hi,

I've been running CM11 for quite some time and been happy with it but my phone started behaving strange and I figured it was time for an update.

After flashing the ROM + gapps according to instructions I've have a working phone but with some strange problems. I first installed the snapshot from 20150901 and thereafter the nightlies from 20150914 and currenty run 20150919 but the problems persists. These are as follows.

First problem: I can't start the clock.
Time is shown as it should but if I want to set an alarm ot use the timer i get the error message "Unfortunately, Clock has stopped". I've submitted the automatic bug reports on some occations but doesn't know any actions to take to solve the problem (exept flashing a new ROM which I've tried).

Second problem: Writing to /storage/sdcard1 doesn't work from phone or while connected to laptop by USB cable.
Using the included File Manager it seems like I can copy files from internal storage to /storage/sdcard1. For example if I download the latest CM and copy the from download to /storage/sdcard1 it seems like it's working (i.e. progress is shown and it says that coying is succesfull). However if I close the File manager and reopens it no changes has been made to /storage/sdcard1 (i.e. the file is not where I've copied it). The same happens if I try the procedure with the phone attached to my laptop and I copy the file from windows. I've tried reformatting the sdcard in both windows and in CM with no luck. It does say that the format is succesfull but all the data is still left on the card...

Bot the Clock and writing to the sdcard worked in CM11. Do I have to downgrade again?

Any suggestions on how to solve the problems are greatly appreciated.

Having one issue I can't explain on newly rooted LG G4

I just rooted my G4 using a couple of threads and a how to video from this forum. This is the only place I trust and everything went great. My phone is rooted and I'm having fun with it. I just have one issue and it's a strange one. At least I consider it to be. Here's the problem. Any app I install that will both uninstall an app and restore it I'm having issues on the restore end. There is no exact info I can give you except to explain what's happening. Usually only the first file I uninstall will show up in the recycle bin and I can restore it. But sometimes nothing shows. If I try to uninstall more than one app, let's say three for example. In the recycle bin it will show that I uninstalled the FIRST app I chose to uninstall as ALL THREE listed. So Let's say I uninstall app's a, b and c. In the recycle bin instead of showing apps a, b and c, it will show three versions of a. This seems very odd to me.

The thing Is I have troubleshooted this and I have used different uninstall/restore apps that do the exact same things as App Master/System app remover (root) etc. I evven tried others. but still have the same exact issue with all of these apps. And also within these apps I moved the backup folder and recycle bin locations to several different locations incliuding different locations both on both my external SD card and different locations within the external storage just to see if the location was the issue. The locations does not matter. The app does not matter. I have the same problems no matter where the locations for the backup and restore folders are and I have the same issues no matter which app I use. BTW I have no problems at all with installing apps from either the app store or anywhere else and also I even used an apk extractor before I turned my old phone in and extracted a lot of apps and installed those on my new phone via a folder in the external SD card and no problems with that. Also if I only uninstall one app with any of these uninstall/restore apps I CAN restore it.

My fear is that I will one day need to restore an app, maybe a system app and because I have uninstalled many apps since then it won't even be listed in my recycle bin via these apps and I will be screwed. Have any of you even heard of anything like this before?

I realize there could be work arounds such as periodically backing up ALL apks, but really that would be a hassle and I would just like these uninstall/restore apps to work like they should.

Some experienced people, please, HELP

After a few days of struggle, I can't even remember which methods I tried with no luck...

Here's the thing:
1) Stuck at 2% flashing KDZ with flash tool ( can't go back to stock )
2) Entering download mode but cdc serial failed ( I think that's the reason I can't flash KDZ through flash tool )
3) Entering TWRP bumped recovery ( v2.8.6.3. ), but don't work adb sideload/push ( adb devices shows nothing )
4) I'm currently on CLOUDY 3.3 and it runs fine, tried to flash other roms, works fine

Right now, I can't describe how I got stuck in this situation ( with all the methods I tried, all drivers changed )...

Can someone help with this situation? :(

Verizon Galaxy note 2 with root no data access.

First time poster, so if I do anything incorrectly I'm sorry. A few days ago I rooted my SCHi605 Verizon Note 2 on 4.1.1 using Odin. The root worked, but now I have no data. I've been searching the internet madly trying to find a solution. I've even reinstalled the rooted stock rom. If anyone can help me I'd be much indebted. I'm losing my mind! Please let me know if there is anymore information I can provide.

After power button directly into standby

Hi,

My screen got broken, so i replaced my LCD and the glass. Thanks to Youtube this was easy.
The L90 boots fine, my homescreen is on screen and after that it goes in standby mode. So far, so good.

When i press the powerbutton my homescreen appears for about 1 second and goes directly into standby mode again. I dont have any time to unlock the screen.

What could be the problem here?

Question 2: how can i access my data which is stored in my phone, if i cannot unlock phone?

Dual window picking up other apps.

OK any LG g4 owner knows how much it sucks to have such an awesome feature as dual window just to be chained down to a few boring stock apps. Well if you're able to root then no problem just use the g3 dual window mod or change the build prop line yourself. But if you're like me and have no way to get root access atm then you are very frustrated like me. Then I noticed several icon packs showing up in the dual window list and function as good as stock, but... They are icon packs.. WTF is that all about?! Almost pisses me off more after the utter hell this phone has been even after replacing it a week after I got it cuz of course the screen which still randomly screws with me. If anyone has seen this and can possibly find a way to replicate this for other apps without root mods it would make slot of pissed g4 owners feel better.

Problem with Contacts and Google Sync

Greetings guys,
I had to reset my phone to defaults this afternoon, so i lost all apps, data and contacts. When i try to sync with my google contacts, i never got all of contacts back, althought i always selected save to google account when i added a new contact on my phone.

It's like some contacts "stuck " to the google account and where synced back, while others didn't.
What could have gone wrong ?

Active display is different on Moto X Play?

ok so i got the Moto X 2014 ,Droid turbo and others Motorola.
the Active display works like that: when u got a notification the screen lights untill u read or dismiss the notification.
on Moto X play the phone acts in another way: lights one time ,then nothing untill u take the phone in ur hands. then the phone lights up and make u see that u got new notification.
why? why the screen doesn lights up more times like on Moto X 2014?

Cant get FB notifications when phone closed

Hello Everyone ! I have one weird problem ... and I cant figure how to solve it

Im not getting any notifications on screen or with the blinking light whenever I get a new FB message (when my phone is closed)

I have to go either on the lock screen or in the phone then after a few seconds then notification appears

Which mean I always have to open my phone to see if I have any notifications ( I know 1st world problem there :P)

Can anyone help me ?

Softbricked to download mode, unsure which versions are in my phone

I have a few specific questions at the bottom, but first, here's the long details:

I ran the custom ROM Hyperdrive RLS 16 (4.1.2) for years and loved it, but the past week I felt it was time to upgrade to a new ROM that was more up to date. I started to try out R3ARMED (4.4.2), did a full wipe in CWM and installed the zip files provided (the ROM and a d2att specific file).

Unfortunately, in my excitement I forgot to make sure that I had a 4.4 bootloader and modem, which seems to be rather essential for this particular ROM. The install failed and I thought I may have bricked the device, but I was able to update CWM and get back into recovery mode. This time, I got through the AROMA installer for the new ROM, but on reset I got stuck in a hard bootloop. It's pretty nasty--I can't use the key combination to reboot into recovery or download mode, and I only get as far as the opening "SAMSUNG" screen before the device blacks out. However, I can use a USB jig to force reboot into download mode--it's the only interface I can get with the phone at this point. ODIN recognizes the device, and when I use Heimdall and its drivers, I'm able to use those tools to interact with the phone. So I hope I'm not completely lost, but not being able to access CWM recovery mode definitely hurts.

Here's what I've tried so far to fix it:
- Without a USB jig, load recovery images onto a 16 GB SD card, insert into phone and power up (no successes, some images actually made it so the "SAMSUNG" screen no longer showed, others corrected this issue)
- Re-flash CWM with heimdall (failed)
- Used the Ultimate Android Toolkit to convert the CWM img into a tar that ODIN can flash, and tried to load it (failed)

I'm looking into trying to flash a full recovery onto the phone to see if that can fix it. But I have a few concerns:
1. I know that once my phone gets a 4.4 bootloader and modem, I can't go back to an earlier stock version.
2. I had an unsuccessful 4.1 -> 4.4 install attempt in the process of bricking updating my phone.
3. I have no idea if the install impacted the bootloader--so I don't know whether I can try a 4.3 stock flash or need to use some of the more recent phone dumps.

My first question is, as usual, what is the best route to take to recover this phone?
My second is, are there tools I can use for a phone in ODIN mode to check the version of the bootloader/modem, check on the integrity of the file system, etc. etc.?

I have a replacement phone on its way, but I view this as an excellent learning opportunity, and would love to hear some advice.

Can phone signal be boosted?

3g/4g signal is terrible. 2g is fine. Im on three UK network and my old Xperia z3 had better signal, my nexus 6 had amazing signal. I really want to love this phone but im having more and more issues with it.

Nexus 5 LCD broken?

So I broke my screen on my nexus 5 some time ago and last week I decided to change it myself. After a few days of use with the new screen, I take it out of my bag and it looks like this:

After some time with the screen on it starts flickering, but still with those big vertical lines. Behind the lines I can the lock screen, but the touch is not responding. I tried opening the phone up and disconnecting the screen cable and connected it again to see if it was just a loose connection or something, but it still looks like the picture above whenever I turn it on.
Is the LCD broken or the graphics processor or??? What should I do next? :)

While in the course of attempting to develop a unified kernel for both normal boot and TWRP recovery boot for Xperia Z3+ for use with extract_elf_ramdisk so that we don't always need to use fastboot to load the recovery image, it's come to my attention that the 28.0.A.8.251 open source downloads are missing code for a number of drivers that are compiled and loaded as kernel modules in the official firmware releases. Notably, the lack of drivers/video/msm/mdss/mhl_sii8620_8061_drv breaks a lot of things if the kernel module isn't loaded (including usb connectivity and, as a result, adb)

It would be nice if Sony could update the source downloads so that they're complete. Some other modules appear to need source including core_ctl.ko, ecryptfs.ko, kscl.ko and texfat.ko as well

How to enable wifi calling, with cellular preferred, in lollipop?

In kitkat, I went to wireless & networks, wi-fi calling settings, and then I could choose "wifi preferred," "wifi only," or "cellular preferred."

Now I upgraded to lollipop, and I can't find anything like that. As far as I can tell now, by enabling wifi calling, all calls are forced to wifi. Is there some way to enable wifi calling but only use it when the cellular network is unavailable?

LG G4 (H815) - DualRecovery (Locked Bootloader) - Fastboot/ADB

I found out my phone's (H815L) bootloader can not be unlocked through LG :(
The phone is rooted ('system-update' + root) and I can use Fastboot/ADB to get into recovery, but it errors and won't recognize the custom recovery. Ok.
I am wondering if there is a DualRecovery for the LG G4 for 'Locked Bootloader' to flash/push through Fastboot/ADB?

Question about SuperSU zip.

Hey guys, quick question here, are all supersu zip files the same? It's a noob question, but does it matter which supersu you download? Like, do phones and tablets need a specific version or does just googling for the newest zip file to flash with a custom recovery just work everytime? Thanks!
