[Q] There's a Toolkit for ASUS Zenfone Can Flash Without Battery ?

I hope someone know a toolkit with work without battery like "SP Flash Tool", but this tool not working for intel chipset.
my zenfone totally brick, can't enter droidboot, can't enter system, can't enter recovery, just stuck on Intel Logo to dead end. So bad :crying:

ASUS ZenFone 5 A500KL, stuck at boot

Hi everyone. I was using my Zenfone 5 and all of a sudden i got "AUSU Launcher has stopped working" message that i wasn't able to dismiss (It flashed around 20 times) and my phone turned off. When i turned it back on it didn't go past "ASUS in search of incredible" loading screen. I entered recovery and wiped cache along with factory reset. Got bunch of E can't mount error messages and whole process failed. Tried to boot device again without success. What are my options? Phone is on 4.4.2, WW version, stock, non rooted.

Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) Charging Analysis

HI Guys

Today we will do a charging analysis for Zenfone 2, Model: ZE551ML.

Zenfone 2 has a 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery and support boostmaster technology, which is compatible with quick charge 2.0. and Qualcomm also list Zenfone 2 as supported device in their official site.
The model we test is ZE551ML, 4G/32G, We are surprising to see ASUS don’t include the fast charger in this model, just regular charger, here is the photo:




The standard charger just can offer 5.2V/ 1.35A. and ASUS includes a short usb cable ( about 0.9cm length) , see here:



and we test the no-load volt for the stock charger, see here:




Now we begin to test the total charging time with stock 5.2V/1.35A power adapter and usb cable. We have made our Zenfone 2 battery to 0% and here is the test result:

The total charging time is 3 hours 7 mins with regular charger, and you just can get 20% battery in 30 mins (PS: we found an interested thing, the zenfone 2 can’t be powered on if the battery is lower than 20%, i am not sure if it is my phone problem or you guys also have this problem?). After charging for 1 hour, we just get 36% battery, charging 2 hours, we get 68% battery, charging 3 hours, the battery is almost full. The Charging current will become smaller as the battery growing. but max, you just get 1.13A. Here is a photo we take when we test:


Frankly speaking, If we don’t test with quick charge 2.0 chargers, we might think the charging speed is OK, Most people might think they just leave the phone to charge overnight, and if it can charge full during the sleep, then it is ok. :) However, if you tried with quick charge 2.0 chargers, i thought you should change your mind.



Now we begin to test with our chargers and cable:

With our chargers and cable, we get zenfone 2 from 0% to 100% in 2 hours, When it detects Zenfone 2 support quick charge 2.0, our charger just give 9V volt instead of 5V. and you get 54% battery in the first 40 mins, and in 1 hour, you get 77% battery. (while with stock standard charger, in the same time, you just get half battery). Our chargers can give 15W power to zenfone 2 at first, while the regular charger just can give 5W. That’s a big difference. We also can see in the above table, while use our charger,in the whole charging progress, Zenfone 2 always get 9V high volt , but the charging current is becoming smaller as the battery growing.

We take a photo after charging a while with our charger to show the quick charge:


So from the above testing, we can see, use our quick charge 2.0 charger, you can save 36% total charging time , it can offer double battery level at the first 1 hour compare with regular charger. Like Qualcomm said, Less time charging, More time doing. And not just our wall charger, our quick charge 2.0 car charger also support Zenfone 2, you can get similar charging time when you use our quick charge 2.0 chargers.

In the end, Here is our suggestion to charge your Zenfone 2 faster:

1 If your zenfone 2 don’t equipped with a fast charger, just get one asap :)

2 Pick up some high quality usb cables, it do effect the charging, i take a photo to compare our usb cable and asus one:

Zenfone 2 factory reset and backup question.

I just started a factory reset on my phone after doing a full Asus backup to fix the battery life issue, then while it was rebooting to start the erasing process, I realized that I haven't backed up my photos or files.

It booted up, started to erase, I just held the power button to shut it off. Tried rebooting again, or booting into recovery mode, but it just boots to "erasing" every time. So I have these questions:

1. Does the factory reset in the Zenfone 2 (the one in setting sunder backup and reset) clear the contents of internal sd and erase all files?
I remember I took it to get repaired and they told me to save all the files because they will do a factory reset and that will erase everything, but I'm not sure if it's their special reset or just the normal one in the settings.

2. If yes, does the Asus backup save files or photos? Or just apps?

3. If no for 2, then can I somehow interrupt the erasing process or connect to the phone with ADB without booting into the erasing process and save my files?

Fastboot linux Zenfone 5

Fastboot don't recognize the device in linux, to work follow the steps above (root required):

1. Download the fastboot binary compiled to chipset intel in http://www.mediafire.com/download/pb...9b2m5/fastboot
2. Save binary in internal ou external location in phone
3. Enter ADB
- adb shell
- su
4. Save old fastboot binary
cp /usr/bin/fastboot /usr/bin/fastboot.old
3. Put saved binary in /usr/bin
- cp [...]/fastboot /usr/bin
- chmod 755 /usr/bin/fastboot

Zenfone 5 Hard Brick

Guys, this is my problem: I have tried root my zenfone and bricked it. I'll explain my infelicity and try get help here.

So, as i mentioned, i tried root my zenfone. I followed this guide But, after done, my phone was in a boot loop. After this, I started a sequence of guides for try recovery, but no success.

After this, my "fastboot" have bricked and now a can't access it. I can't acess the fastboot/droidboot when I press and hold vol up + power the screen show "No command" so I press and hold power + vol up and I can acess this options: reboot system now; apply update from ADB; wipe data factory reset; wipe cache partition; reboot to bootloader/ power down and view recovery logs.

After press and hold: Vol up + Powe buttom I get this.

Have I bought a stolen zenfone?

Hi there,

I recently purchased a zenfone 2 from ebay (I believe it to be the Z00A, 4GB model).
It had some issues, such as the touchscreen not working, but the phone is in generally flawless condition.

I was able to get it to boot up (seller said it wouldn't boot), used USB OTG keyboard and mouse to do initial "Welcome" setup.

Connected it to my wifi, and it asks me to login to the previously used google account. I obviously can't do that.

Am I boned? I want to send it in to ASUS for repair, but I don't know what would happen in this scenario.

I'm thinking I should just file a paypal chargeback on the device.

[Guide] How to Compile Your own ROM's for the Zenfone 2 Z00A/Z008

Well I've been getting a lot of questions on how users can take development into their own hands and start compiling your very own builds of your favorite ROM's. Because of this I have decided to write up a guide that will explain all the steps you need to take to compile a ROM.

NOTE: if your problem is that you cant get your build booting but you already know how to compile ROM's then skip to step 5

Step 1: Install A linux distribution

you will need to be on a linux distribution such as Ubuntu to compile android from source. You can do it on OSX as well but I don't have instructions for that because I haven't done it. So if you aren't on a linux distribution that will be the first thing you need to do. there's thousands of guides online on how to do that so go do that

Step 2: set up the build environment

you will need a lot of packages installed to successfully compile without any errors which ill list here

if you're using ubuntu or another debian based distro then type this in your terminal

you probably dont need all of those installed but its better to have one extra package then one missing package.

now that you have all the packages needed. its time to set up repo so you are able to sync the sources. type this into your terminal

Step 3: getting the ROM sources
time to play the waiting game! For this part of the guide I will explain how to fetch cyanogenmod's sources.

in your home folder, make a folder called cyanogenmod. Now open the folder and open a terminal inside of it.
inside the terminal type

now you might get an error that says something like "Error, tell me who you are!" so you are going to want to type

now run the command once more

and wait for all the sources to download. It will probably take a few hours so I suggest you go do something else and come back later.

Step 4: set up Zenfone specific sources
now that you have cyanogenmods sources downloaded you will need to add zenfones sources.
you can find the zenfone sources here:

for now go into the .repo folder inside your cyanogenmod folder. you may have to enable "show hidden folders" in your file managers settings to see it. inside of this folder create another one called local_manifests . inside this folder create a file called local_manifest.xml .

now open that xml file with a text editor and paste this into it

this is probably the step that most people don't do and therefore get builds that won't boot. You need to add 4 very important commits to get your ROM properly booting.

I flashed recovery and flastboot versions 2.21.20.44_ww successfully.
But when I send the package UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-5.3.3.3-user via adb sideload, I get errors.

Zenfone 2 ZE551ML Boost Charging not functioning

From the last 2 days my zenfone 2 ZE551ML has stopped charging in the Boost Mode apart from this normal charging is also taking too long. It's the stock zenfone 2 updated to latest firmware OTA. Please suggest the solution at the earliest.

Zenfone 2 ZE550ML camera KO after screen replacement

A few days ago I have ordered and then replaced the LCD of my Zenfone 2. Sending it back to repair the display was as expensive as buying a new phone, so I decided to take the risk. I followed the instructions I found on the internet and I succeded. Both touch and display work after replacement, and all other components work too, except for camera functions. Now when I open any camera app (Google Camera, Zenfone Pixelmaster camera and so on) I get the infamous "camera failed to launch, please reboot your device". After cleaning up both application cache and system cache (I have even tried flashing an older firmware version) I decided to check both the flat cables connecting the front camera and rear camera to the phone's motherboard, with no success.
Any clue about how to proceed ?
Any chance that trying a different ROM (such as Cyanogen) might fix my problem ?
I have read that many users are experiencing that nefarious camera message, however I haven't found any effective solution so far, and without a clue I can't figure out if one of the two cameras is broken or damaged...
Suggestions ?

[Q] Asus Zenfone 2 Bricked with USB Debugging Off

Hi All,

My Asus Zenfone 2 seems bricked while trying to Wipe Cache.

I started the phone in recovery mode and tried to Wipe Cache - I made sure that the battery was above 50% (56% to be precise) before this process however, the phone got switched off while the cache was being cleared. When I tried to restart the phone, it would just show a blinking Driod image.

As I never thought of rooting or flashing my phone, I have not enabled the USB Debugging mode.

I have tried all the options to download the Asus / ADB drivers and try clearing the cache using the fastboot erase cache, however my issue is that adb is unable to detect my phone due to USB Debugging being off.

Can someone please help me if there is any way to clear my cache on my phone with the USB Debugging currently being off.

Asus zenfone 2 won't start:(.....

Hello, My Asus won't start... I have stock rom with root, i tried to apply OTA without unroot. Now my device showing only fastboot mode. I can choose: normal boot, restart bootloader, recovery mode. But after i select, device is restarting and still same fastboot mode.... Can't go into stock recovery mode:(. I can instal temporary cwm, then i can restore my backups, but after restore still same problem.. Plesase guys, what to do now?

I Flashed it with Fastboot with the WorldWide ROM to get it to work for me in Canada and it works but i want to update since there is alot of issues that the new update will fix but i still use alot of root since i use root uninstaller and Titanium Backup and alot of Root Benifit like moving the app to system apps and freezing and my favourite remove the Bloatware

If you guys need the System.img to check it out if its broken or something tell me and i will upload it to my MEGA Account or DropBox or OneDrive or Google Drive if any of these are blocked in you country but this is only for look at and i dont know if i am going to break the rules but sorry if i did but i am really in need since my phone i am doing new stuff and the OS is starting to get buggy and also the flash look horrible and the update fixs it
