Where is the recommended method for rooting Android M Preview 3?

I'm hoping to root my stock Android M Preview 3 install that I have. I see multiple threads and how to guides but all the download links for custom kernels to accomplish this are down. Does anyone have an up-to-date link for this process?

Thanks!

Android M Preview Sound Pack

Does anyone have a flash-able file to replace Lollipop System/UI/Ringtone/Notifications with Android M's sound pack? I have the Preview 3 File. But, I don't know how to extract the correct files. I like the ringtones and such. Just dont feel like using M as a daily driver due to lack of support with apps.

~Thank you in Advance.

Nexus 5 with Android M Preview 3 isn't turning on

Hello.

I installed (via apk) a new Google Play Services version on my N5, the Google Play Services kept crashing every 10 seconds. I tried to reboot it to bootloader by holding down all 3 physical buttons but I let go of one to soon. The device turned on immediately and I immediately repress the button I had released just after the device turned on. Now my N5 is off and won't turn on. Please help!

Do these mods exist yet for M Preview?

Hi all! I was planning on waiting for the official release of 6.0, but my Nexus 6 hasn't been wiped in over half a year and is starting to get laggy.

Before I flash M Preview 3, I was wondering if the following functionality that I usually achieve through MCR Control on 5.1 was available in any way on M Preview (via mods, etc):
  • Reverse position of Back and Multitask buttons on nav bar

  • Double tap to wake screen

  • Show percentage inside battery icon in status bar

  • Add reboot button in notification shade

  • Enable LED while charging

The most important thing in the list for me is probably swapping the position of the Back and Multitask buttons, since this greatly increased the ease of using the Nexus 6 one-handed for me (and my muscle memory grew accustomed to it long ago). The rest of these features are nice-to-haves, but the Back button being on the left in stock is a significant enough change to potentially hold me back until someone mods it. Anybody know?

Thanks!

Android M preview MPA44I trying to get Viper4Android to work

I came from Android 5.1.0 and had everything working.
I am using Viper4Android for years and always could get it to work... Probably the same now, but for now I didn't succeed.
My upgrade to Android M preview was done without any real preparation. When I took my phone out my pocket 2 days ago it was in a boot screen and asked me for the access code.
When I entered it I saw it was wiping all data of my phone...

Luckily I have Titanium Backup and decided this was also the day to try those previews of Marshmallow.
I copied the the folders Whatsapp and TitaniumBackup to my PC and installed it.
I was pleasantly surprised in the way it restored my desktop, but that was after I had to set my WiFi to a static IP or else I was not getting an IP.
Later I learned that I need to select the "old DHCP-client" to get access.... (why make a new one if the old one works and the new one doesn't?)

I was able to install restore as it was before, but I can't get Viper4Android to work.
I suspect it's something with Selinux.
I restored the app that changes the SeLinux through Titanium (I'm mentioning it as it might be the reason).
It gained root access, but already said it was running in "permissive" mode. Not explicitly, but I could only select enforcing.
Another difference with my previous system is that I don't have that warning all the time that I need to remove that app (the Selinux changer).

I also have root explorer on my phone and that one behaves strange when I set it into "root mode"
Suddenly I can't get straight to the SDCard and when I from root via mnt to my download folder I can see some files with a size, but files I recently downloaded are 0 bytes.
These files have normal sizes when I look at it in normal mode and also when I do an "ls -al" from a terminal session.
The files that have sizes are pushed there using the USB-cable via MTP. The files with 0 bytes are downloaded using Chrome...

I would be interested to know if others have succeeded to get Viper4Android working on this build on the Nexus 6

Android 6.0 M (MPA44I) Preview 3 got Root but no R/w to System

HI

I´ve rooted my Nexus 6 on MPA44I

1) twrp-2.8.7.1-shamu
2) BETA-SuperSU-v2.49
3) Despair.M.Shamu.R6.4.zip

but i can´t use apps like Adaway , its saying "can´t create /system/etc/hosts: read only file-system"

Root Checker says "got root"
Titanium Backup works

how can i get full Access to stop these anoying ads?

thanks for your help

Swype crashes on preview MPA44I

Whenever I long select the space bar to select another language my Swype crashes.

All other stuff seems to run fine.
Well, the dhcp-client doesn't work properly, but that can be solved by selecting the "old dhcp-client"

I'm on bluespark kernel, but had another one before which does the same.

[Android M preview] No upload/download arrows in wifi and mobile data icons

Hello all,

I flashed today the Android M preview 3, and when I use Wifi or mobile data, the download/upload arrows don't appear. Is this a common issue or is it just me?

Still on KitKat (stock rooted) - Benefits to flashing M preview?

Title is pretty much it. I'm still on stock rooted kit kat. I've avoided Lollipop just because at the time it was apparently buggy, and I haven't really paid much attention to roms/android development in a long while. I've been tempted to grab the preview 3 since it came out, but I'm just not sure!

What has improved since KK? Other than having the latest thing, what is good about M?

Android 6.0 M Preview 3 - Videos Choppy/Freezing

Hi,

After upgrading to 6.0 Preview 3 I've noticed sometimes the phone becomes seriously laggy, like the whole phone starts going slow mo. But anyway, more noticeably when ever I seem to watch videos the sound will carry on as normal but the image just freezes, if I try to load a video from the Photos app its a nightmare I gave to play/pause click Info come back out of it to catch up its annoying. Anyone else noticed this issue or just me?

Nexus 6 Android 6.0 Preview 3 rooted and flash clean via fastboot.

Notification text preview in status bar not showing

I recently got a Moto X 2014, but I seem to have come across a problem. For some reason the text shown when you get a notification in the status bar (e.g. the sender and message of a text) isn't showing up. The status bar icon appears, but no text for any notifications from any apps. I don't think it was doing this at first (although I might be wrong, I'm not 100% sure) so I think I must have changed a setting somewhere, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. Already tried posting this on Reddit, but I've not received any responses as of yet, so hopefully someone on here can help me. I'm running 5.1 (the latest I can get) and I'm not locked to a carrier, if you need to know for whatever reason.
