Development question

I just bought an S6 edge plus. It was between that and a Note 5 but I'm already thinking about going back and getting the N5. I've never bought a phone so close to its release date. Will the N5 enjoy the same great selection of custom roms from a variety of developers as its predecessors have? I feel like the edge plus will have little to no development. I guess that's about 95% of why I'm thinking about switching to the N5.

Kernel Hacking and other KF Development?

Hello all. I have recently been striking out so far as KF development goes. I was going to start a new thread in the development forum, but I didn't think it was appropriate to do so yet as I have nothing to show for my efforts. Let me know if that should change.

What I've tried lately:
* Compiling cm11 with the latest sabermod tool chain (that is, 5.2). Results: numerous errors related to multiple definitions of functions. I have yet to figure out why.
* Compiling cm11 with the 3.4 kernel with what I think are the changes needed for otterx. Results: it compiled and installed. It boot loops.
* Compiling cm11 with the 3.4 kernel. Results: it compiled and installed. It boot loops.
* Downloading cm10.1, per the instructions in Hashcode's thread, in order to play with the 3.4 kernel in a working environment. Results: git repository errors. Unable to download.

I think the next thing I will investigate is the possibility of getting USB video to work so we can plug a web-cam into our KFs. Good idea? Bad idea? Does anyone care?

Can anyone here offer any assistance with any of this? Thank you.

i have the invite ,but not yet sure to buy it or not..i know there is a lot of development thats gonna happen for this device..

Hi friend i have a doubt regarding androind apk for eg:let me take whatsapp or some other android application ,in my case consider we r installing whatsapp,when i install an android apk automatically a whatsapp folder is created and but i like that created folder"whatsapp" as
"whatsup" how to change like that hoping a good answer thanks in advance bro....

Minimal rom options was development planned to be so minimal?

It's so strange as good of a phone as the s6 is and still a relatively recent release in comparison the s4 S5 seen way more development in less time then the little that the s6 has seen .
Is there a reason for this ?

How to get started in android app development

Hi everyone, I've recently finished to read a very thorough book about java programming and now I'd like to put into practise what I've learned. I'd like to start developing android apps, but, even though I searched a lot through internet to find something that could help me with this, I didn't find much. So I'm asking you, what should I do to learn how to develop android app and how should I begin?

What Verizon phone has the most development going on at the moment?

Just sold my Verizon S6 due to OF1 firmware and no root. Does anyone have any idea which phones have the most development going on at the moment?

ROM development and tweaks?

It is my understanding that the development of ROM for this phone may be limited since it won't be available in the US. Right now, I'm wondering if there's anything we could do to try to jump start development? I don't have enough knowledge to develop anything on my own but maybe I could supply data using my Moto X Play? I know enough to install stuff like TWRP without bricking the phone. Anyway, at least, we don't have to suffer the atrocities of an ugly skin like TouchWiz since Motorola adopted a bare to the bone attitude with its firmwares. I also heard that these Motorola phones will be among the first to receive an official Marshmallow update.

Status of ROM Development?

First off: I am NOT asking/telling developers to hurry up. I totally respect that ROM development takes time and will gladly wait for the next releases. I am simply curious about a pattern I noticed.

In early August it seemed like ROM releases were more frequent (5-7 days) whereas for PA and Slim we haven't seen a release for almost 20 days. I hope developers can appreciate my question, because instead of asking when the next release is I'm wondering what's been preventing the next release. CM has had the same bugs for almost a month as well, is there some driver that's faulty? Something that has been a PITA to get to work on our platform? Something we are missing? Just curious more about what challenges are causing a hold up, but other than that dev will get to them when they get to them and I'll just be waiting :)

Thanks for all your hard work devs, hopefully knowing what's been going on behind the scenes can help people to find it in themselves to have patience!

[Kernel & Development] Help needed

Who am i

I am from The Netherlands, 22 years old and currently studying an programming course in my country.
I just started year 2 of my course (total 4 years) and i know the programming basics of:

- Java (Object Oriented)
- SQL

Purpose of this Thread

I love android. I love it so much that i want to build my own ROMS & Kernels. However, maybe this is a stupid question, i absolutely do not know where the F*** i need to start....

Lets say i start at the basics creating my own Galaxy S6 Rom. How do i write scripts? How do i create a Unified Build (for all S6 models) etc. etc.
This above question might be tooooooo specific, but im talking generally about how to build a rom.

Ive been though a few guides (included a few from XDA), but seriously, it seems these are outdated...

What i am asking is DEFENITELY NOT an "Personal Trainer" who can assist me with every thing i need to do..
BUT i really appreciate it if someone can provide me with some nice resources, tips, tricks, links, guides and examples.

I feel kinda stupid because i probably getting some comments bellow here saying that i need to "google" properly..
But i seriously ask for some help here.

Basically, I'd like to root and install recovery. Maybe one day install a new rom. I'm on TMobile and not really sure which direction to go for my variant specifically?
