[Q] Carrier Settings

Hi Friends,

I'm form Argentina and using a Verizon versión of Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) and since I got it, i've been facing some issues that I have been able to solve, but some of then I cannot do anywthing.

According to this, I´m starting to try to make my own ROM from Verizon Stock Tar file for Galaxy S6. I've already extract the files and decompile with DSIXDA.

I'd like to know if anybody can help me to know where de carrier settings are, for example. APN configuration, calling settings such as pre configured *611 to call customer service, voicemail settings, mmi codes, etc.

Thanks in advance and apologize my bad english.

regards.
Martin

[GUIDE] How to remove AT&T carrier name from the notification bar

For everyone installing the Stock Roms, the carrier name will be displayed in the notifications bar, which i found really ugly and kinda stupid. In this guide ill show you how to remove it.

--This guide works only on the SGH-I337 model. I haven't teseted it anywhere else. If you do, leave a post below--

-- First of all, you need to have Root Access, since we are editing system files (duh!). Secondly im not responisble for any damage done to your device for not following the steps correctly. I did it on mine and its running flawlessly. --

--- Instructions --
  • Download a root file explorer (I used ES File Explorer)

  • Mount /system as r/w (In ES File explorer you do this by +swiping left->right from the left side of the screen to open the settings +scroll to the bottom and enable root explorer +tap on root explorer +tap on mount r/w +on /system choose option rw)

  • Close settings and on the top where it reads sdcard tap it and from the window choose / Device

  • Navigate to system folder

  • Before editing the build.prop file make a backup so if something goes wrong you can restore it later. Copy the file and paste it somewhere in the /sdcard directory (Not necessairly).

  • Open the build.prop file

  • Edit these lines as below

  • From ro.product.device=jflteatt to ro.product.device=jflte

  • From ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 to ro.product.model=GT-I9505

  • From ro.product.name=jflteuc to ro.product.name=jfltexx

  • Save file and Reboot.

This method will also replace the 4G Icon to the default one, and as you saw thevirtually change the model number shown on the about device section. Its still a SGH-I337 . And that's it! If something goes wrong simply restore the old build.prop file.

Carrier lock with custom rom, will any stock rom do?

Hello,

I rooted and updated a p500h but now it won't seem to connect to other carriers. I suspect it's locked.

I didn't back up the stock rom, and I can't find the Koodo stock rom. Will any stock rom do to access the hidden menu and unlock?

Carrier IQ on AT&T Note 5

I've been monitoring my battery life for a while and while I get pretty good battery life and SOT, I noticed that Android System always seems to consume the most battery. I've looked at threads where people are getting absurd SOT (upwards of 7-8 hours) and wondered why my AT&T model couldn't do the same even after using Package Disabler Pro and Adguard and I think I know why. I went into Application Manager --> Running --> Android System and found this (see attached image). It appears Carrier IQ is onboard again and causing Android to have a high usage rate. I believe this is the reason why some aren't getting great battery life and unfortunately it can't be deleted with Package Disabler Pro.. I wish Samsung would stop letting carriers tamper with their software or release a pure version of the phone that's compatible with the AT&T network. Sorry for the Novel but I wanted you to know why you are not getting great battery life.

Bypass Carrier Activation Moto E Lte

I just bought a Moto E 4G LTE that is prebranded US Cellular (no contract). (XT1526 with lollipop 5.0) I don't need to use this device as a phone and do not plan on activating a carrier at any point, but just want to use it connected to my home wifi.

The problem is that the device will not allow me to bypass or skip the activation screen, and gives me no home button or option to even connect to my wifi. My previous Moto E (KitKat) simply allowed me to skip the activation and use the device..this one just keeps calling USC to activate over and over and the only option I have is to call or power off.
I have been searching the web all night and still have not found a solution (which granted may be due to my lack of knowledge in this area in general, and hopefully the solution is obvious to someone more knowledgeable). I tried touching the corners + volume up, but it hasn't worked and I tried different combinations, perhaps I have the wrong corner-order?
Anyone who can help me get this thing to let me in would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

HTC Desire 510 carrier unlock cricket

Hey guys,
I picked up a couple of handsets from Cricket when I was down in the US and I'm trying to carrier unlock them for family members.
The HTC Desire 510 and 626s.
I know this is the 510 thread so I'll be asking my questions about it. I understood this phone comes in 32 and 64 bit variants. not sure how to tell but since it's the Cricket variant, it's supposed to be GSM capable which also, from some searching, leads me to believe it is carrier unlockable albeit differently than the sprint/metro versions
Searching these forums got me to bootloader unlocking, which I've done for both handsets, but this is not of much use to me as I won't be rooting or flashing custom ROMs.
So my last question is, does anyone have relevant information on how to do this? has that been documented?

thanks a bunch!

Can't downgrade from specific carrier update on Galaxy S6 Edge. Model SM-G925W8

I am looking to downgrade from firmware version G925W8VLU2AOG2 to G925W8VLU1AOCG. I have downloaded the firmware, and have loaded it up in ODIN through the AP slot, but when I attempt to complete the process I get the following error: imgur dot com slash vgCerPv

The ODIN screen on my phone says SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1

I am trying to downgrade so I can root my phone (ping pong doesn't work with current firmware, and eventually flash a rom and run xposed (now that it works for the S6).
I'm running ODIN 3.10.7

i need carrier folder for lollipop 5.0, help please

i have a sprint note 3 ................. and i just got boostmobile

the previous owner worked for sprint and did a hard reset and deleted the contents of the carrier folder along with everything on the phone.

now when boost mobile tried to do the handsfree activation i get an error. also the prl update doesnt work, i might need a copy of that too.

and then a copy of profile 0, and profile 1 information

......................................... but for now if anyone has a coppy of the carrier folder for me who is on lolliepop 5.0 THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.

..... YES, I READ OVER THE HFA FIX SECTION OF THE NOTE 3 ALREADY. THAT THREAD HAS SLOWED DOWN DUE TO NOTE 4 AND NOTE 5 DEV.

IF I COULD GET A COPY OF THE CARRIER FOLDER MAYBE THE PHONE WILL UPDATE PROPERLY, but for now i have a smart phone with no data, only voice and text. really frustrated here ......

What carrier for this phone?

So I am getting a new unlocked phone and was wondering what carrier I should go with based on the phones specs. I would love to be able to use 4g LTE but it's not a make or break for me.
Based on these cell freqs what carrier would match better for this phone?

Quote:

2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz

Should I go Tmo or att, or does it matter. Thank you for reading...

Carrier Issues Unlock Phone.

Dear Members,

I have a issues with my unlocked LG G3 D855, i got it from a carrier called Orange, and i´m using it in another carrier called Claro, my problem came when i sent it to fix some problem to the original carrier, they made a software upgrade and now my phone doesn't get LTE signal (Just get 4G) and in the stock browser my homepage belong to the original carrier, even when i made a full restart and re installed a new rom.
Both companies have same phone model and use same band to get LTE in the LG G3.

Thanks

carrier w/most robust backup power & storm-hardened backhaul?

Now that no-contract hotspots are fairly cheap (about for a ZTE z288L or z289C compatible with StraightTalk's /30day-1gig plan), I'm thinking about buying one to keep handy in case Hurricane/TS Erika knocks U-verse and T-Mobile data offline.

Does anybody have any particular opinion about which carrier (AT&T or Verizon) is likely to have the most robust storm-hardened backhaul and enough backup power to keep the tower (and everything upstream) working during an extended regional power outage?

For what it's worth, Verizon's mobile switching center for South Florida is about 3 miles from my house. I'm not necessarily sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing at hurricane-time.

Also, is it reasonable to assume that data service using Verizon or AT&T through StraightTalk might be throttled, but is not itself any more likely to be affected by regional power loss or storm damage than the underlying network itself? Or does Verizon/AT&T split off StraightTalk's traffic right at the tower & leave it up to them to handle their own backhaul arrangements? I like to THINK that the traffic is all VPN'ed from the tower to their regional network center and split off to MVNOs there... but I don't know for sure.

By the way, I just got off a chat with someone at StraightTalk who explicitly said that the following devices can NOT be used with their hotspot data plans:

Verizon Novatel USB727 USB 3G data card
Verizon Novatel 4510L and 5510L Jetpack hotspots

... and said pretty much point blank that BYOD doesn't apply to hotspots or data modems, and that ONLY StraightTalk-branded hotspots can be used with their hotspot plan.

[Q] Unlocking carrier on Moto E?

Hello. I'm looking at one of these for my in-laws. We were goign to buy the straighttalk wireless version of this phone and then they wanted to take it when they went home overseas. Is this phone carrier locked? If it is, can it be unlocked?

Bootloader status by carrier?

Does anyone know if Sprint Note 5 bootloader is locked or unlocked?
T-mobile unlocked for sure, right?
