VZ replacement S5 on OE1

Just received a replacement device from VZ and its already on OE1. All the threads I've seen show this to be unrootable (at the moment). When root techniques come out, I'm curious where they they "are" while working toward a workable solution. Would like to see what progress is being made and if there is any way to know "are we there yet" before we get there. :)
