Switching between home screens

In my Tab 4 10.1, when there was android v 4.4 there was one very handy functionality.
When you were on one of home screens and touched the side of the screen it was scrolling to next screen without a need of sliding through the screen.
After update to 5.0.2 the function is gone. Is there any way of bringing it back?
It is still working in app drawer though...

Stock firmware, no root.

Wifi to Mobile Data Switching Issues on 5.1.1

Since updating to 5.1.1 (Stock, clean install, UB) I have connection issues. Usually happens when switching wifi off or leaving a wifi conected zone, mobile data does not switch on most of the time or it takes a long time to turn itself on. As far as I have read it seems to be a 5.1.1 bug ( see https://productforums.google.com/for...us/o-UyGECxh2k )

Does anyone happen to know a fix?? Has anyone had a similñar issue on Xperia Z?

Switching open apps

Using Android 5

When switching apps from one to another, the one being switched to reloads.
Is it possible to stop this from happening?
I want the app I switch to, to be in the same state it was at the time I switched away from it.
No reloading, unless I explicitly tell it to reload.

Please help. Thanks! :)

Cannot remove old gapps package after switching to omni rom nightly w/android 5.1

I have an asus tf300t. I managed to update from the final version of omni rom with android 4.4 to the latest nightly (8/27/2015) but the gapps package for android 4.4 is still flashed. I downloaded the package for android 5.1, wiped the system partition with twrp, and then reflashed the rom. (I did not wipe the data partition and internal storage.) After that I tried to flash the new gapps package but there was "insufficient storage in system partition." I rebooted the tablet and the old gapps package was still on it. How can I remove it without wiping the data partition and internal storage?

fast tab switching on smartphone

Is there a smartphone (any OS) that can hold 20+ (or at least more than 5) tabs in a web browser at the same time, so that you can switch between them instantly, land at the same position and without a tab having to be redrawn from cache (even when you come back after a long time or even a reboot)? I think I've read somewhere, that on Android this is not possible, but I was thinking that it might be with 3gb of Ram like in a Galaxy S6.

Switching to FI with rooted Nexus 6

I have an unlocked, rooted (Chainfire SuperSU) Nexus 6 running LMY48I with TWRP as recovery. Today, my Google FI SIM card is arriving in the mail. I would like to do the following:

* Switch to LVY48E (5.1.1 for FI)
* Ensure the resulting ROM is rooted
* Avoid losing existing apps and settings

My plan is to perform the following in order:

* Download LVY48E (shamu-lvy48e) from the Google factory images site to my laptop
* Boot to bootloader
* Flash the radio.img with fastboot
* Reboot to bootloader
* Flash the boot.img with fastboot
* Reboot to bootloader
* Clear the caches with fastboot
* Flash system.img with mfastboot (have had problems with large files previously)
* Flash cache.img with fastboot
* Power down
* Insert new FI SIM card
* Boot normally
* Reboot to TWRP recovery
* Root the device with TWRP
* Reboot normally (all done)

In the steps above, I am not flashing recovery.img (to maintain TWRP) and not flashing userdata.img (to keep my existing apps and settings).

Does the above sound like a sensible plan of attack? Am I inserting the SIM card at the right point? There was information on other forum posts about allowing the phone to boot normally once without using TWRP to root so the system partition is set up properly and then rooting on the next boot. Is that right? And finally, TWRP has previously given me an option to fix the system partition after I have flashed prior factory images. Should I allow it to do that? What is it fixing?

Much obliged, looking forward to enjoying a Nexus with FI! And thanks to XDA for such a great resource and for all the time everyone has put into making these flashes a less intimidating process for novices like me.

[Guide][Project Fi]Install custom roms with network switching (T-Mobile / Sprint)

After many hours of testing, here it is.

Code:

Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your device as a result of this!

Install custom roms and use Project Fi network with network switching.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: What does this mean? A: This means you'll be able to flash custom roms, use the Fi Network, in addition to choosing if you want to be on T-Mobile or Sprint.

Code:

What is required:
*Nexus 6
*Project Fi sim card
*Access to a computer
*ADB and fastboot installed
*Time and patience

Lets get to it...(Skip steps if they already apply to you.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Unlock your bootloader

1. Enable “Developer options” by tapping 5 or 6 times on the Build number in Settings>About phone.
2. Hit back once and choose Developer options; check the box for USB debugging.
3. While in there, also check the box for “Enable OEM unlock.”
4. Plug your phone into your computer.
5. You’ll need to give it USB debugging access through a pop-up (don’t forget to check the box).
6. Once you have given your computer debugging access, it’s time for commands.
7. Open a command prompt from within the Platform-tools SDK folder where your adb and fastboot files are.
8. Type the following command: "adb reboot bootloader"
10. A bootloader unlock confirmation page will appear. Tap Volume Up to highlight “Yes,” and Power to select it.
11. Your phone’s bootloader will now be unlocked. Shouldn’t take more than a minute or two.
12. Once finished, you should be on the boot screen showing “Start.” Press Power to reboot your phone.
13. During reboot, your phone will go through a factory reset.
14. Once it boots back up, you are done. If everything went correctly, you should see an unlock icon during boot.
15. Activate your sim card.

fastboot flash boot C:/image-shamu-XXXXXX/boot.img
fastboot flash recovery C:/image-shamu-XXXXXX/recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash cache C:/image-shamu-XXXXXX/cache.img
