What`s the difference between COLOR OS kernel and ordinary kernel?

When I use color os kernel ,it works good(COLOR OS 2.1).But if use a ak-kernel instead of the color os kernel in boot.img and reflash the new boot.img,my oneplus boots in a loop.What is the difference between the color os kernel and ak-kernel? Who knows the problem?
