GPS accuracy - Stock based ROMs or AOSP?

I have a VS980 and GPS locks take a long time on CM/AOSP based ROMs. I'm wondering if I should flash a stock based ROM. Is there a difference? Is there anything else to gain from stock based ROMs?

Safe to upgrade from 4.4.4 to 5.1 by flashing AOSP 5.1

I have a moto e xt1021 (single sim) on kitkat 4.4.4 and I want to upgrade it to Lollipop AOSP 5.1.
So far, there have been no OTA updates to lollipop.
I've heard that lollipop has a different bootloader to kitkat, so i'm unsure if i can simply flash a lollipop rom.
Is there any way I can get lollipop on my phone?

If not, i'll just have to wait for the OTA update (if it ever happens).
Also, do rooted phones still get updates? Mine is rooted, but it's on stock rom with xposed framework.

best AOSP ROM for SM-N9005?

i would like to know the best AOSP rom available for SM-N9005 I want to know for someone else i do not have a note 3 so i can not flash and check one myself i have been away from the note 3 scene for a while so i would also like to know that have bugs like speaker cracking, whatsapp audio bug have been squashed on these roms or not..thanks

Z3 Compact AOSP Bug tracker

Hello all,

I have had my z3 compact for quite a long time, and i am starting to get tired of the stock sony firmware. I have been looking at the forums for a while now, to figure out which custom firmware i want to run. The thing is i want a firmware that is either as close to stock as possible, AOSP or a CM 12.1 rom.

I Just can't seem to figure out which bugs are present i which builds, and i'm having a hard time finding a bug tracker that's usable for me.
Do any of you guys know of a rom with a minimum of bugs that can be used as a daily driver?

Vanilla AOSP rom?

Hey everyone,

Is there a pure vanilla AOSP rom for the optimus G PRo that has all bluetooth and sim card functionallity without the need for any modem patches or anything fancy like that?

Stock Firmware size vs AOSP

Anyone look closely at the files within the SBF posted a few days ago?

The system image file is over 2.5GB in size! Am i missing something or how is this possible for an almost plain vanilla os load?

I wonder if it doesn't create several virtual /systems and makes the appropriate one active depending on carrier used...

Thoughts?

AOSP lockscreen

If you have used stock Android Lollipop you will know how well the lockscrren works. Swipe up to unlock, left or right for shortcut and double tap notification to reply.

Now on TW the lockscreen is just aweful! The big unlock 'block' when opening a notification, the lack of shortcuts and cheesy unlock effects.

Any way of getting stock lockscreen or alternative app that works without ads etc.

Aosp - automatically enable data for mms?

I love running aosp. I find performance better, overall fluidity and speed.

My issue is that iI work in a low reception area. I cannot keep data on all day to download mms as they come in.

Blisspops bundled mms does this sporadically, but not super reliable.

Are there any ways to do this on 5.1.1?

I am running sky dragon and the stock Lg mms automatically downloads mms without data being toggled on. I would rather be on aosp though. Any help?

Touchwiz apps for AOSP, CM and Other Roms

Today I just discovered Samsung's opensource release center.
I am not a good developer so I'm just trying to seek attention of other Awesome and respected developers.
With the source let's get out note's features on other roms.
Examples :-

I haven't downloaded the whole source code due to lack of high speed internet.
May they just included basic framework and drivers and libraries in their source, but i think xda has grown up enough to redesign drivers and frameworks and etc stuff that is required to run sammy apps on other roms.

stock based v aosp

i've looked around the forums and found that stocked-based roms have better camera quality and battery life than AOSP roms but most of the threads were from a while ago. Just wondering if the camera quality and battery life on AOSP roms have improved?? How do they fair compared to stock-based now?

AOSP ROMs causing data connection issues

I've tried two ROMs so far, Xenon and CM. Both the latest build. I did them after a fresh RUU, using TWRP 2.8.7.0. The only change I made was to install the VZW firmware that DigitalHigh provided in the OP of his GPE ROM. That was needed to ensure that I could install the newer TWRP and the lollipop roms and whatnot.

Anyway, data connection is incredibly spotting. Half the time I have nothing, then it's the R for roaming, and occasionally when toggling APNs and airplane mode I can get regular data for a little bit, but it never lasts long.

Has anyone encountered this before? What can I do differently to fix this?

ICS ROMs for L5 [CM, AOKP, AOSP]

Is there any ICS ROM (4.0.x) for LG L5? I did not look for Stock or Mod of Stock, but ROMs like AOSP, AOKP, CM...

AOSP Notification Drawer?

Now that I have my G4 (TMo) rooted, unlocked, xposed, etc, I find I'm happy with pretty much everything. App Ops is built in, settings that were gone in stock can be easily added back with xposed modules, I'm no longer stuck with the crappy built-in battery monitor, bloat's been removed, etc. However, there is still one sticking point... I HATE the stock LG notification drawer, particularly its "quick settings" implementation, and would like to get this back to stock-style AOSP Lollipop. I had hoped to find a Xposed module to help with this, but nothing thusfar has been able to change the notification drawer. Custom ROMs are a potential option, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate the phone even more if I didn't have double-tap-to-wake, and I'd rather not compromise the camera quality.

Has anyone found a way to change this, or could point me in the right direction of figuring it out myself? (I suspect it may require a mod to the ROM.)

How to Install the Rom

Make a Backup of your current sytsem first. just in case something goes wrong

Make sure your device is rooted
Download ROM and put it on internal sdcard
Put device in bootloader mode (Power + Volume Down)
Enter Recovery and perform a factory reset
Find in Recovery "Choose zip from sdcard" choose appropriate zip file
Proceed steps installer gives
Reboot device after finishing installation.

Useful Tips

Smooth System
Go to settings/about and tick 7 times on build number.
no you have enabled the Developer settings in settings.
browse there to Animations and change them to 0,5 or disable them.

In Nova Launcher settings got to "look and feel" and set
the animation and scroll speed to "faster then light"

[Mi3/Mi4] Sound Enhancement Mod (AOSP & CM based ROMs)

All thanks to @chirantantab :highfive: now you can have great sound on AOSP and CM based ROMs (without wasting your time on MIUI anymore). He deserves all the credit for this mod, I have just prepared this flashable zip so that installing becomes easy.

As per members of XDA, it is working great on Official CM12.1. I have personally tested it on AICP and SlimLP ROM by bitti09. My Mi3 sounds fabulous now :D

Just download and flash it using your favorite recovery (I used TWRP). No need to wipe anything after flashing the zip.

I am not providing any uninstaller at the moment and may or may not provide one in future (all depends on my mood).
I really don't think that you would want to go back to those tiny-winy sound after using this mod. But in case you want to just backup the /system/etc/mixer_paths.xml file before flashing this mod.
