Coming from Motorola: Moto like features on OPO?

Unfortunately my moto X 2014 died, and its not in my budget to buy a new moto device right now (the additional cost of paying 20 for mofo to root, and 25 for sunshine to unlock bootloader also grates on my nerves).

I got a OPO instead off swappa within my budget, but i know I am going to miss some of the moto features. However, I know the opo is pretty adaptable too, and I was wondering what comparable features might be available either via ROM/mod/etc for the below.

1) Moto voice = screen off google now, without being plugged in. So i can say "ok google now" at any point, and my phone will light up and listen. I use this to find the phone when ive lost it around the house, when driving, etc. I use it at least 10X a day.

2) Quick gestures: The wrist flip to activate camera on moto is awesome, gets you into camera very fast from any state. Any similar feature, or perhaps knock code to jump right into camera? Physical button mapping?

3) Same as 2, but for turn on flashlight.

4) Active display.... this one, im probably going to lose with the screen not being oled. Any quick way to see my notifications without turning the phone all the way on?

Custom Rom yet like cyanogenmod?

What's your battery life looking like?

Ever since I've upgraded to the latest firmware my phone has not been lasting me the whole day like it used to on kit Kat.

[CM12.1] One Way Brightness (like Samsung)

Make auto brightness go only up. Similar to what Samsung phones do - which prevents brightness going down because of a shadow or finger covering light sensor. To reset brightness, turn the screen off and on. (There's no timeout or tilt detection though)

I hated this feature on Samsung but with the adaptive brightness feature since CM12 it often is so off and sensitive so using this module actually makes it more bearable for me (still without the need to install apps like "Lux").

LG G3 Use a car radio like a keyboard

Hello,

I use a LG G3 with a SONY car radio unit. There's a app with the unit which i can control with the joystick.
The app is good but not perfect, so i want to know if it's possible to control the LG G3 with the joystick of the car radio (like a bluetooth input tool/keyboard)

weird fan like noise on camera app

Hi,
I have a LG-H818P and a couple of days now that on occasion, when I open the camera app it starts hissing and sometimes I feel a light vibration like if it had a laptop fan in it. I thought it was some issue in the Manual mode, but I can't replicate the problem. It happens randomly, but only when I open the camera.
Has anyone had this problem before? The phone hasn't overheated or behaved in any abnormal way aside from this "fan like" vibration and noise.

Why do people like wireless charging?

I don't know if I'm the first one to say this, but I find wireless charging completely useless... I had an old '90s Motorola with a charging stand... I find that INFINITELY more useful than "Wireless charging".
First of all, the charger still has wires, so you're still stuck on a wall... Unless it has a battery attached to it, which is nice, though most scenarios where you use an on-the-go charger you are "on the go" and moving, so a normal external battery could do... (see third point)
Second. your phone is still during that time... You can't do anything to it... Why? Just so you don't need to put a wire in the port, to save some (1 second) time (?)
Third, it has ZERO stability. That's why I say that charger from 20 YEARS AGO was a lot better. You put your phone in and it charged. Same as Wireless charging, except that old Motorola didn't fall off and stop charging the second someone bumped into the table just a little bit. Or you are in a car...

I find wireless charging just good marketing taking charging a step back...
Also, the USB pins that keep the wire in my phone got crushed, so my phone right now can't be lifted while charging... PEOPLE ACTUALLY PAY FOR THIS???
PS: I found a "useful" use in cafes

All you need to do is plug in the phone and "wirelessly" charge....

Explorer Sd with a Pc like every Android phone ?

Hello,

I'm realy disapointed about the possibility to explorer my sd card mount on my zenfone 2 from my PC.

I changed my iphone 4s (itunes) for a zenfone 2, and .... I must use Share link :(

Now every time I want transfer my photo/video/mp3 to my Pc, I remove the back of the phone, unmount the micro sd from the phone and use it on my Pc. I prefere that to use Share link (I hate this software, I prefere Itunes !!!)

I'd like to start from scratch

I think I've messed up my MI3 a bit to much.
After trying out 15+ ROMs, partitioning with several methods,
swapping CWM & TWRP just to see what will happen,
my MI3 finally "gave the ghost" as we say in good dutch.

I have some idea of what's wrong, but haven't the ghusto to sort it out any more.
Most probable is a few wrong partion sizes allowing me only
to install the last working recovery (CWM).

Anyway, to cut a long story short,
is there any way to COMPLETELY do an original factory reset,
including removing all partions and creating new ones with the right sizes
with an original (MIUI ?) factory ROM installation ?

Alternative ideas are welcome.

Glass back just cracked like that!!

Got My new edge+ yesterday. I was happy as a child playing with it all day. In the evening I was ready to go to sleep, the edge was a bit warm of using it, not hot but just warm. Didn't play games or so, just usual apps installing, browsing, YouTube, etc... I wanted to check something on my surface pro which was on the kitchen table. I layed my edge next to it on the table on its glass back, no cover. While I was busy on my surface I heard strange noises, like things cracking. At first I couldn't see where it came from, It lasted several minutes. After I was done I took my phone to put it on the charger and I felt something strange on the back. DAMN, the entire back cover was cracked, not just a bit but scattered! Just like that! I went crazy, really. It seems that the metal band just crashed the glass back cover. I suspect the the colder surface of the kitchen table shrinked the warm metal band of the edge and so crushing the glass somehow.... How on earth am I going to explain this in the store where I bought it? They will say I dropped it, but I didn't for sure. You can't see any dent or scratch proving that. I will see how it goes tomorrow, will keep you posted. I'll make some pictures as well and post them here. This Is clearly a manufacturers faulty construction. So beware of warm devices on a colder surface!!

I tried to like it

When I bought my g4 I was torn between the g4 and the nexus 6.
I chose the g4 based on how much I liked my g3 and after having this g4 for 6 weeks I just cannot take these touch screen issues and a few other minor issues. Since the nexus 6 was on sale at Amazon I jumped on it.

Share the apps you like!

The best way to stumble upon an interesting app is to see what other folks are using. Using the app "List my apps" linked at the bottom of this list and using the "bbcode" option inside it I generated the following list of apps which are installed on my Idol 3. In most cases the link will take you directly to the app no matter where it came from...some will kick you to a google search which should find them fairly easily as well. [Q] Widgets like OPO's Shelf, HTC's Blinkfeed etc.

Is there any possibility out there to make a custom Shelf page for, say Nova Launcher? Like put widgets in a vertical-scrolling page, making a custom Shelf/GoogleNow alike thing? Maybe a "scrollable widget-container" to put widgets in? If not, maybe I might just given you a million dollar idea (patented dont even try lol).
