disable back and recent buttons or turn down sensitivity.

I am having issues with the touch sensitivity of the note 5. The screen and capacitive buttons (back and recent apps) are simply TOO sensitive.

is there a way to disable these buttons in games or rather bring down the sensitivity down a bit?

for example when I am playing a game this i have to hold my phone in landscape mode. my thumb would always sometimes touch the "recent apps" button and it will bring me out of the game.

Touch buttons don't light up

Hi,
I recently bought galaxy tab s t800 and my touch buttons (recent apps and back keys) don't light up when I touch then. The lights are working when I press the power button, so there is no problem with the Leds, but when I touch them there is no light.
Does someone experience the same problem or know how to solve it?

Using a Bluetooth selfie stick with zoom buttons and the LG G4

Hello.
I have a problem with my G4 since buying and beginning to use this bluetooth selfie stick. The problem is that I cannot use the stick's zoom buttons with my phone, as they both act as a shutter button for some reason. Why is that happening and how can I resolve that issue so that the zoom buttons will operate as needed?

Thanks.

D855 rear buttons issue

Planning to buy a G3! The version is D855, the seller is reporting that the rear buttons sometimes work and sometimes dont and is saying it is a software issue and not related to hardware. Has anyone heard of this before?

[WIP] Headset buttons detection

Hi,

I wrote a patch to make the Moto G recognize the buttons of headsets/headphones. The hardware is capable of detecting the buttons, Motorola simply didn't write the code for it because at the time Android was not able to make use of them.

I have a minor problem that I can't easily overcome without help.

The chip that takes care of the detection simply reports some value when a button is pressed and this value depends on the specific headset used. It's up to the kernel decide what to do with that value. Each headset implements the buttons in a different way, so I need to gather some data. I think there's some sort of standard in the industry, so probably it will be possible to implement a generic solution (how can other devices do that otherwise?).

At the following address, you can find a simple patch that makes the kernel print that value whenever a button is pressed. It really does nothing other than that.

Code:

https://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=h9dnhmKr

To get the data I need, run from Terminal Emulator/adb the following (as root):

Code:

cat /proc/kmsg | grep TPA

(the command must be stopped manually: close Terminal Emulator/Ctrl+C/Vol down+C etc...)

Now, every time you press a button, you should see a new line (maybe more), for instance:

Code:

<6>[  97.148228,0] TPA: value: 67

I'm interested in those values and their corresponding button, i.e. the button you pressed to get the line.
The value is not constant, you'll get different values for the same button. It's not a problem.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the prebuilt kernel here below is for falcon. If you are using CM made for falcon, then this image is OK.
At the following address you can find a prebuilt kernel image made for the current CyanogenMod 12.1, anything not too distant from the currently nightly should be fine (I built the kernel three days ago) (do whatever you want with this prebuilt image, mirror it, repackages it etc...):

Code:

https://mega.nz/#!7A4SjQqZ!DPzO18k56e9364PciH7RC6rVCbrkuuUyqAcX9eFyd4I

Sources:

Code:

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_motorola_msm8226/ at acfe66c6fee + patch linked here above

If you want to test the prebuilt kernel image without flashing it, use fastboot:

Code:

fastboot boot path/to/the/boot.img

In this way, all you need to go back to your kernel is rebooting the phone.

PS: Most likely headsets made by Apple won't be recognized.

Soft buttons remap, disable backlight.

Hi guys,

I am new to the Note Edge. I cannot get used to the location of the back and recent buttons. I have been searching around but cannot find any mention that any ROM support disable the buttons' backlight and remap them to normal locations. Which ROM support it without extra software?

Thanks a lot.

[Q] Recovery Mode Buttons won't work - Cant boot also

Hi,

I have this old Galaxy Ace Plus phone which doesn't boot. It had an old SlimRom on it and I installed the stock firmware over it by odin.

The phone starts boots to the 'SAMSUNG' logo that appears in the middle of the screen just before the homepage screen and vibrates sort of 'prrrr prrrr prr prr prr' and reboots and the same thing continuously.

Since then it won't boot and won't even go to recovery mode. When I press the recovery mode combo it does nothing 'black blank screen and no sound or vibration activity as if the phone is switched off completely'.

As per a few threads I saw to fix the bootloop you need to go to recovery and flash a file but because I can't go to recovery I am stuck.

However I can go to the download mode.

Here is what I have tried so far..

Re-downloaded and reinstalled the stock firmware
Tried to flash different recovery's.
Tried different ODIN versions (all say passed/OK)
Reboot manually after odin flash directly to recovery mode
Played with battery and some buttons
Tried different location stock firmwares

Nothing so far..

Is there anything else I can try ?

Thanks.

seeking suggestions on adding external hardware buttons to execute macro/scripts

I'm a noobie looking for suggestions on how to add external hardware buttons that can control any functions on a Kocaso Mid9200 tablet running Android 4.2.2. The basic goal is to push an external hardware button and play a favorite radio station in one app, or another hardware button to stop playing that app, and switch to another app and play specific favorites within that app. I'm open to writing macros/scripts that might invoke the desired function then linking a specific external hardware button to each different script. The tablet is rooted. The tablet is cheap and does not have either Bluetooth or NFC (so external NFC buttons like the Pressy or Dimple are not an option), it only has a USB port.

I've placed an order for a PCSensor Key Fere external programmable USB keyboard and plan to build macros keystrokes into that device to start the process. I've also started to look at using the External Keyboard Helper app to tie a keystroke to invoke an app. But I could use help in figuring out how to write a script/macro that could navigate within an app and select, for example, one of several favorite radio stations in the radio player app, and start/stop that station in the player. Ultimately I'd like to push one button on the external keypad, and have it invoke the desired player app, navigate within the app to select a specific station, and start that station playing.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

SwiftKey has TWO emoji buttons??

hey!
does anybody else have TWO emoji buttons in the bottom row? one on the left, between 123 and [space], and one on the far right, that sometimes changes to a Return arrow.

it's SUPER annoying. I keep hitting it instead of 123, and deleting stuff I accidentally wrote there is even more annoying because backspace is somewhere else than expected in the ****ing emoji tab.

driving me nuts. any ideas?

this only happens on this device. everything fine on my lg g4.

happens with Stock AND Cyanogenmod Nightly. which is awesome btw.

Can the volume buttons become a power button?

The volume "rocker" isn't actually a rocker but just two buttons with a bridge over them. Is there a way to make it so that pressing both at approximately the same time functions like a power button? I find the double tapping isn't always reliable and the real power button is hard to reach.
