How do I disable OTA software updates w/ root?

I'm rooted on OE2 and I'm not planning on updating. I searched and found that Verizon users can freeze SDM.apk and it'll stop updates but it looks like that apk doesn't exist on the AT&T version. I don't really want to flash a custom ROM, is there any other way to stop these forced updates?
