I have just purchased the Z3, just wanna ask you guys about upgrading to Lollipop, are there any much more improvements or any bad exp on Android 5 ? About battery time, and other factors... I'm thinking about upgrading to 5 but I personally like the UI of 4
I'm trying to upgrade my SM-900 (ha3g) from Kitkat to Lollipop.
I've flashed the latest TWRP and the 5.0 bootloader via ODIN.
I then use TWRP to flash the ROM (I've tried CM and a couple others) - I wipe the necessary file systems prior to wiping and then select the zip to flash it. It flashes fine. I reboot the system and after the Samsung SM-900 screen comes up, it just remains black. Nothing appears. I've waited quite a while in the event it was just initializing, but that's not the case. I've also tried to wipe the caches and factory reset AFTER flashing, but that does not fix the issue.
I am currently on lollipop 5.0.2 and rooted and I got ota update notification. Does upgrading ota leads to root access loss. And how is this update treating you?
I've rooted and flashed roms onto multiple phones before, and I've now come to realize that I never updated those roms after they were installed. Now I need to update my current rom, but I'm not 100% sure of best practice. I've looked up some information. There seem to be differing opinions about whether to restore, wipe, and re-flash versus just flashing the update over the current custom rom. Again, I'm looking for best practice. I'm currently running Clean Rom 1.1 after Ping Pong root with a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge on Verizon, and I'll be updating to Clean Rom 1.5. Thanks in advance!
My Retail XT1060 VZW Moto X 2013 (non-dev edition) is rooted with a locked bootloader and write-protection off and running Android 4.4. I would like to upgrade to Lollipop (Android 5.1) while keeping root access and write-protection off. Is this doable?

There's no doubt that this phone is much better than my HTC ONE M7, in every way possible. There are a couple of other concerns I have despite the fact that it is dirt cheap at the moment. I can literally buy 2 G3 for the same price as galaxy s6.
Hardware buttons at the back - annoying? steep learning curve?
I haven't upgraded my baseband/modem since I was running S3RX, so I am on NE4 baseband currently. I have been running CM12 for some time now and have no plans on going back to KK. So I'm wondering what the best way to update to NJ2 would be. Should I download d2att_I747UCUFNJ1_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_12-3-14.zip flash in twrp, reboot then flash d2att_I747UCUFNJ2_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_8-19-2015.zip?
Hello everyone! I have LG G2 D802 Kit Kat 4.4.2. No Root, No recovery. after upgrading to Kitkat its touch got crazy, sometimes it stopped working.Knock On, status bar are not working also. Battery is draining too much. What should i do?? Plz Help me out Thanx in advance!!
Never had a reboot issue with KitKat or Lollipop on my Nexus 5. However, since upgrading to 5.1.1 from 5.1, my phone randomly turns off during usage. Its a power down and not a reboot as I need to manually hold the power button to get it to boot back up.
I've not been able to find a pattern to the crash but usually its an app that either uses the camera or something like Hangouts doing a call. Battery typically is between 45-80% when this occurs and app usage is varied. Happens about once a week. I'm able to browse the web or use Talon and get the battery to 30-50% without stability concerns. It just seem that certain apps expose the bug.
Couple of additional data points. If I have it connected to an external battery and battery stays above 95%, power down doesn't happen. In addition, if it boots back up & its not connected to a power source it will then power off again. The next boot will do an ART rebuild of cache.
I searched, but haven't seen another report like this.
How would I go about upgrading to an OTA stock ROM? I remember a while back that trying to upgrade via OTA would bootloop the phone, and I've not seen anything about how to go about this since then. Still on 4.4.2, looking to get onto whatever can still have root.
Will the RAM will go down from 1.82 GB if I install official lollipop OS I need a screenshot of Running apps regarding this whoever using s4 on lollipop. Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA
Never thought I'd make this upgrade.... My Verizon Note 4 is being traded in for a ... T-Mobile Note 4.
10 years and 5 lines on Verizon. I don't see a phone I can actually upgrade to from the Note 4- so it makes sense to get a rootable, rom-able Note 4. I'd be perfectly happy with that. I don't think that trade is for everybody, but I see nothing coming in 2015 that's any advancement I want to live with.
Just to let you know how it turned out moving out of my Verizon Note 4 and taking my family with me (I think that's relevant for this forum- mods, if it's not, you can delete my post), here's how it worked (unlimited talk and text):
Traded my VZW Note 4 (6 gigs data Plan) --------> TMO New Note 4 (10 gigs). Porting over a VZW Note 3, 2 gig plan -------->10 gig plan Trading a Note 2 in for a New Note 3, unlimited data --> 10 gigs Changing one flip phone to Galaxy core Prime -----------10 gigs Porting over one flip phone -----------no data
VZW: 233/month. T-Mobile: 168/Month. Fortunately, In my area Tmobile actually has better data/voice coverage than VZW.
I think I'll take the extra dollars and get a nice big battery. I have no problem living with that for a year or two.
OK, this is going to sound strange but bear with me:
Yesterday I received the 4.16.401.13 update (I'm running 100% stock, not rooted).
Soon after updating I noticed the launcher was unresponsive when trying to scroll vertically, from screen to screen. It feels like it's in the left 1/3 - 1/4 of the screen. I'ts only when I swipe from left of the screen to the right, not the other way. If I try, the screen will respond a little and then behave like I've removed my finger from the screen.
The same thing happens in some programs, but not all: QuickPic wil exhibit the same behavior, and not scroll thru my pictures if I start with my finger on the left 1/3 - 1/4 of the screen.
Here's where it gets strange: It's not in all programs. I downloaded a drawing program, just to see if it was a digitizer problem, but there is no problem drawing on the left side of the screen when I'm drawing.
I've uploaded a video to demo the problem:
Hope it makes it clearer, otherwise ask.
(I've tried restarting the phone before posting this - no change).
Please Note: I don't know if this i related to the update, only that I noticed the problem soon after updating.
I have a samsung GalaxyS4G from T-Mobile, Model # SGH-T959V Firmware 2..3.6 Baseband Ver. T959VUVKJ6 Kernal 2.6.35.7-T959VUVKJ6-CL694130 Build# Gingerbread.VUVKJ6 3 days ago I was finally able to upgrade to this 2.3.6, prior to that I had only 2.2.1. I was able to upgrade with Kies Mini thanks to Samsung support. I contacted Samsung Support Friday asking if I could now upgrade again, I was given the standard answer that I always got when asking about upgrading from 2.2.1, "There is no upgrade for that phone" Just lucky I finally reached a agent at Samsung that had the knowledge or at least the willingness to help or I would still be stuck with Froyo 2.2.1. I have rooted the phone with Kingo Root and it now shows the phone is rooted. I am not looking for the sky but would like to at least up grade to Jellybean if not more. System Storage Used 296 MB, 219 MB free. SD CARD has 130MB used ,839 MB free Any suggestions?
Hey, guys. Yesterday I download LG update tool, and it flashed lollipop on my d802 international phone. And after that, i saw a thread with someone saying that after he upgraded to lollipop he had 1900 mAh battery capacity showed in an battery life app, and I have the exact same problem. To make this short, can I flash this d801 zip to my d802 using twrp? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=973
Well, the Note 5 is out and I'm really depressed about it. I can't see how this could be a good phone. I would stick with my Note 3 but it seems like root will never come and if I get a 2 year with a Note 4 by the time the first year is up the 4 will be just as ancient as the 3 so I need to get something new.
The difficulty in rooting the Note 3 wasn't because of Samsung it was because of Verizon right? If I switch carriers will it be easier to root the new phone I get? Or is it Samsung that makes rooting kind of a difficult process? It's really hard for me to give up on Samsung. Is their any silver linings in your opinion when it comes to the note 5? Do the pros outweigh the cons? Thanks for any advice.
