sms privacy in resurrection remix, possible?

please can anyone tell me if is possible eliminate popup window in native sms app? i want only sound, vibration and icon in status bar but, for privacy, no sender name or popup.... can anyone help? thanks

CM12 Privacy Guard - WiFi Scan for Location always active?

As no one in the Q&A forum could give me an answer, maybe here someone knows what's going on "under the hood".

Privacy Guard tells me that location is constantly active using Wi-Fi scan with the settings app although I've Wi-Fi turned off:


That is annoying as first I do not want my location constantly monitored and second this maybe also is not "battery friendly".

Anyone knows what's going on here exactly? Is it true what privacy guard tells me?
On CM11 the settings app was not constantly monitoring the location using Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi was turned off.

Lollipop CM12 Privacy Guard - Location always active?

It seems as if location is always active in CM12. Is this true?
I've CM12.1 installed on my Nexus 5. I use it without GApps.
Except when I'm abroad, I never use WIFI and keep it disabled. I rarely use GPS, when activating it I use GPS only mode.

When I enter the advanced privacy settings in Privacy Guard I get the following under location:
As I cannot post a screenshot, here is what it says:
Android System - monitor location (used 11 times), coarse location - running
Settings Wi-Fi scan (used 93 times), coarse location - 0 min ago

How can this happen when WIFI is disabled? On Kitkat this was not the case.

Is it possible to get rid of this behavior? I do not want Settings to constantly scan WIFI and Android System monitor my location. This is very annoying.
If it is really constantly active it also will drain the battery faster.

Major security flaw (for privacy freaks)

Best custom ROM or eliminate bloatware and privacy?

I just purchased a used G3 (D852) and am in the process of setting it up.

From my research, I know it comes with a lot of bloatware and I wouldn't mind getting rid of it. I am also a fan of privacy, so I found a way to access the "Access Lock" feature (aka App Ops and similar to Privacy Guard)but I found that apps that come as bloatware, Facebook for example, don't appear in the "Access Lock" list, so I can't change permissions on them. It looks like mostly apps that have been installed from the Play Store can have their permissions changed by "Access Lock".

I prefer not to root my device, but if I had to, I would consider it.

If I installed a custom ROM, which ROM would give me the following?
-4K camera (preferably the stock LG camera app)
-Privacy Guard (or similar)
-Not rooted

I don't mind the stock ROM, but I would like to have permission control over all apps, specially Facebook and some of the Google apps. Also, I would like to get rid of the bloatware.

Does someone have a suggestion for me?

Erasing a broken SD card for privacy

Hello everyone!

TL;DR: Got a faulty Samsung card which reloads on any device constantly, can't perform formatting or safe-erasing.

So I bought this Samsung Class 10 EVO 32G card for my CM12.1'ed Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 in June, and it ran smooth and fast until... about a week ago I left my tablet on one night (with charger), uploading traveling photos for backup at a slow upload speed hotel room. I got up to check my tablet in the morning and I kept getting an notification saying "Checking SD card for errors" and stuff. The notification appeared for about seconds, then reloaded itself (disappearing then popping out), again and again. :crying:

It seems that the tablet couldn't hold up the communication with the SD card for longer than a blink... At first I thought it might be my tablet too hot last night (it's cool in the morning though) and burned the card reader module, so I instantly turned off the device and removed the card.

It turned out that the tablet is ok and it was my card's fault... The backup failed within one hour after I went to bed. :( I got the same problem plugging it in my phone or PC. I can see the root directory in Window's Explorer, and if I'm quick, I can manage to open a few folders and see the files ok, except I lost all my recent documents and photos into a 20GB giant LOST.DIR folder... When a 5-second or so period expires, the explorer hangs and I guess the card got disconnected again... :(

I contacted the retailer for the issue. They offered a replacement but not a fix to save my precious data. I searched online for hours but don't seem to find a useful answer... Later I found that the card wont disconnect when I switch on the READ ONLY mode on my SD adapter (!). This discovery almost made me cry!!! :victory::victory::victory: I then managed to recover some of the lost files, minimizing the damage, but I find myself unable to format the card or safe-erase any files since once I switch off the READ ONLY, I won't get a steady mount. Even a delete or copy command will hang the system. That's a huge problem because I have quite some sensitive files, passwords laying there, reachable once you enable READ ONLY mode... But I can only get a replacement when I return the faulty card.

How can I safe-erase a card in my situation? I'm really desperate for some help. Thank you very much in advance! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Micromax Nitro 2 E311 - Privacy Protection Password Issue - Urgent Help Needed

Hello Friends.
I have Micromax Nitro2 e311 model. Few days back my wife put Privacy protection Password on device and forgot the password.
I searched for the solution over the internet and did a hard reset from recovery but ended in losing data.
The issue is when i switch my phone on it asks for the same password. I think it is anti theft password.
I then google for flashing the stock rom which i downloaded from somewhere. I installed adb drivers and other drivers suggested in search.
But the issue is my laptop is not detecting the phone.
Please guide me i can recover my phone or not.
If possible then please provide step by step procedure.
