"samsung security policy update" doesn't appear - but I want to disable it

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S6 5.1.1 bought in Thailand. It is rooted.
I want to use AdBlock Plus but it doesn't block the ads.
I read in ABP's forum that in order to make it work I should disable "samsung security policy update".
However, this option doesn't appear where it should, and I see no option to do so.

Could anyone help??

Security concerns with used and rooted M9?

Hi,
My provider gave me the option to buy a slightly used M9 that a customer had returned in the first few days of their contract apparently. I liked the idea of saving money so I bought it. I have found though that the previous owner had rooted the phone and at least added TWRP recovery to it and SuperSU. From everything I can tell the phone is still running an official HTC rom . My question is whether there is any chance the previous owner left something nasty behind. Any advice about how to check for this or am I just too paranoid? Assuming I can get a stock HTC rom is the a process by which I can completely wipe all memory in the phone and fully restore it to stock, or at least to a point where I'm confident that everything on it is from me and only me?

Thanks

What can we expect with security?

Given the compromised found in Android recently and being something I've thought about quite a bit.

"Most" Roms seem to be very rarely updated and if you're using a provider like Straight talk you probably don't get updates anyways.

So, I'm quite curious how Security vulnerabilities are handled? I doubt the Roms are so different that they prevent these flaws from occurring. I'd have to imagine roms may very well introduce new ones.

My thoughts on what the community can do.
I'm not a developer and frankly I'm not into the loop as well as I can be. But, I typically use older phones that aren't getting the support the newer ones are. So, being in the loop of some stuff was never a big concern of mine.

Anyways, first off I'm curious about a security auditing group. A group that can go through the most popular roms of each phone and determine if there are any security concerns. Then this group can offer a label or signing of some kind saying the rom passed the inspection.
Roms like Hyperdrive that have a ton of unique tweaks. Well to me when you are adding and removing things I would naturally assume you probably adding security flaws about as much as you'd remove them.

Security and Privacy is a concern we all have. I imagine that's part of why many people switch to Roms as they remove certain privacy issues and security vulnerabilities.

But, honestly in the community what do we have that really tells us about the security situation of roms and what may be affected by recently discovered issues in Android itself?
Things can legitimately make a rom useless and even a concern to use if it's severe enough.
What about newer people coming in and they start using a rom that's affected?

Thoughts?

1.- Recieve a call in the first screen
2.- Try to save that contact
3.- Choose an "exchange account" (add any - NO GMAIL-)
4.- Try to share that contact
5.- Choose the exchange account previously created
6.- It will be opened the gmail app
7.- There go to settings
8.- Choose "general configuration"
9.- Wala! General settings will be prompted
10.- Activate developer options and disable OEM UNLOCK
11.- Go to fastboot and type fastboot oem unlock
12.- Thats all!!!!!!!

Major security flaw (for privacy freaks)

If you're keeping your phone permanently unlocked, don't bother reading this.

But if you're a privacy freak like me, who doesn't want any prying eyes or fingers through their device, mind the following simple statement:

ALARM(S) WILL UNLOCK YOUR PHONE.

Wide open. No matter what locking system you have (of those available in the stock ROM).

You have been warned. :)

Looking for a good "Video Recording" security app. Any suggestions?

Hey guys,

I recently got a new roomate for my apartment and I am leaving for the weekend. I have a strange feeling he isn't super trustworthy.

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) that I hardly use and plan on leaving here this weekend. I was wondering if there are any playstore apps or third party apk downloads for an app that does the following:
- Detects motion
- Once motion is detected, Video Records the area until movment is no longer detected, or can record for a certain length of time (like 60 secs)
- Get alerts and videos on my phone when I am away

I know there are a few apps on the play store but they all seem to only take pictures. If my roomate decides to do some snooping, I would like to see it all on camera.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jake

LG G3 security error message, please help.

I've already navigated through some threads but my situation is quite different. So i decided to root my lg g3 as my test device. I already own a galaxy s6 plus so my previous device is perfect for development. I have the lg g3 from Verizon wireless running on Android lollipop. I followed a thread here of how to root this variant specifically. I installed the specific drivers and the root itself. It was very easy and i was 100% rooted. However, after i installed the teamwin recovery with no problems at all. Phone was working fine until i made a full os backup before installing cyanogenmod. The problem is that right after i made my backup, i rebooted my phone and now its stuck in the lg security error. I know some people have the same problem, however, most of them got stuck on bootloader. My g3 was perfectly fine only until made my os backup. Any thoughts on what i might have done wrong? Thanks
