Device protection and rooting

My last phone (Nexus 4) was stolen. My new device, the Nexus 6, as you all know comes with enhanced security measures, requiring authentication even after a factory reset. Now, I had grown accustomed to playing around with wiping, rooting, custom roms, kernels, radios, etc with my Nexus 4. Now that I have had my Nexus 6 for a bunch of months, I am starting to think about rooting my device (so I can install an SSH server and have my phone automatically open a tunnel back to my server). My only hesitation is turning the OEM unlocking switch to on. See, I am a big fan of the new security measures that require authentication after a device reset, and would much prefer to keep that feature enabled. I've searched around on Google and XDA, and I haven't been able to find any definitive answers on how unlocking the bootloader in order to root the device will affect these security mechanisms.

My understanding is this: in order to root the Nexus 6, you need to enable OEM unlocking, which allows flashing pretty much any image onto the phone. If any image can be flashed to the phone, this security mechanism can be circumvented.

Two questions:
1. (pretty sure the answer to this is no) Can I root my phone and prevent flashing of images that would circumvent the security feature
2. Will rooting my phone make it easier for an unknown party to gain access to the device via another route

Disable Write Protection w/ Unlocked Bootloader

I recently found out that the 16GB XT1058 that i bought on Ebay, is in fact a 32GB with an unlocked bootloader (talk about confusion). What is weird is that it says "Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 1" - when it should be "Status Code: 3" from what I can tell.

So i flashed TWRP, and Super User. I have confirmed root (installed XPosed, Titanium Backup, Adaway - gave them all root access). But, I don't seem to have write protection. None of the changes persist through a reboot. Titanium Backup uninstalled apps appear reinstalled, adaway is no longer active, and Xposed app_process is no longer active.

What am I missing?

I've searched all over for a couple days now and can't find anything. Its probably a simple answer that I'm over looking, but hopefully not and this will help somebody else out too.

[Help] Bought S6 Edge +, Has Android Device Protection

I bought a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on Swappa and it had old user's information on the lock screen. I did a hard reset using the buttons, but once I started it up Google said this device was reset, enter the email associated with the phone.

Before I contact the seller, is there anything I can do to get around it? Thanks in advance.

BKB50 keyboard compatible with tempered glass screen protection?

Hello everyone,

I really like my tempered glass screen protector for my phone as it feels much more premium than the thinner foliage-type screen protectors.

However they to add something like 0.5 mm to the thickness. Has anyone experience with the combination of a tempered glass screen protector and the BKB50 keyboard? Does the tablet still fit the slot with it?

Best regards, Stahlin
