Restoring DRM keys / Warranty Claim

Hi there,

The headphone port on my Z3c has decided to start dying on me/being really loose about 2 weeks after I decided to unlock it all :/

I have returned the phone to complete threeUK stock 23.4.A.0.546 D5803 & relocked the bootloader, How do I go about restoring my drm keys from here? I made a back up of the keys when I first got the phone, I have tried launching TA-backup but it doesn't give me the option to restore them.

Many thanks!

USA Bands For T-Mobile & Warranty Question

Hello there,

I saw a z5 compact listing on ebay with these specs:
4G FDD-LTE B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(1700/2100), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B20(800), B28(700), B38(2600), B40(2300)
3G W-CDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

The phone is a pre order from Japan. My question is will this work here in the US with T-mobile 4g lte? Or should we wait for the US release?
Also, if we order this (from USA) will Sony give us warranty given it was ordered from Ebay and from Japan?

Thanks!

CyanogenMod 12.1 ERROR "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL"

Hi. I am working on a brand new Samsung SM-G900F i.e. a Samsung Galaxy s5.
I shall explain how I have got where I have got below - which ended up with a rooted, working phone running CyanogenMod 12.1, Android 5.1.1 and with the GAPPS (Google Apps) on it, but the question is simply this: -

"How do I get rid of the error message that appears when I boot at the top left of the screen

KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL
?"

I have set out the following in detail, in case the sequence of steps I undertook will assist other users, or enable them to recognise whereabouts in the sequence they are experiencing errors.

1) I am in the UK. The phone is a brnd new, boxed Samsung SM-G900F which uses LTE (it says so on the box, whatever LTE is).
2) The phone is not network locked: I bought it from MobilePhonesDirect (a big online retailer here in the UK) but I have a Vodafone (UK) SIM card in it, and it has hitherto worked. I am porting a number across to it such port taking effect today.
3) On the new phone I downloaded an upgrade to Android 5.0. I then encrypted the phone which took less than an hour, but quite a long time nonetheless.
4) This wasn't good enough! I wanted Android 5.1 or Android 5.1.1, so ....
5) I connected the phone to my Windows 10 PC via USB, and I attempted to use Kies. This told me to use a newer product called Smart Switch to communicate with the phone. I installed this and was able to communicate.
6) I used ODIN 3.07 to flash things to the phone. I flashed CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltejv-smg900fq and I successfully rooted the phone. Upon boot it was still running Android 5.0 and it was still encrypted.
7) I flashed ClockWorkMod (CWM) to the phone, this version: g900f-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.7
8) I flashed the following zip files to the phone [TN]-VM12.1-20150327-2.0.0-klte and gapps-5.1.x-20150324-minimal-edition-signed.
9) The phone started to boot, but I got the Cyanogenmod 12.1 "Encryption Unsuccessful" message and it would not get past that.
10) I read up. I had used the wrong Cyanogenmod file, I think. I then discovered that as the phone would not boot I was unable to get any files onto it.
11) I then, from CWM, did a factory reset, wiped the cache, and wiped the Dalvik cache
12) I discovered the wonderful, wonderful ADB feature in CMW. I managed to find a piece of software called fastboot.zip. Eventually I worked out the sequence of commands and the syntax (thanks to a YouTube video which I wished to link to but I cannot find what it was I used last night!).
12) I flashed these two slightly different CyanogenMod 12.1 / GAPPS files to the phone: cm-12.1-20150428-UNOFFICIAL-klte.zip and gapps-lpmr1-20150324-signed.zip.
13) It still had errors. I went back to CWM and I "unmounted" and "formatted" this, that and everything, and I eventually got those two zips to work.
13) The phone now functions effectively, BUT ....
14) I still get the error message
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL

The above took me about 4 and a half hours in total, watching YouTube tutorial videos etc etc.
I am very grateful for all of those who share their knowledge. I would love it if someone knew how to get rid of that error message. I read something about it being Samsung Knox. I tried to run a command line command from a terminal emulator on the phone, but I got an error message.

Question about gear 2 warranty

I bought my gear 2 on september 9 last year, on june 2015 i had problems with it, the charging pins on the back of the watch were wearing off until one of the pins wore off completely and it wont charge, sent it in to samsung service and they replaced my watch, now im starting to have the same issue about the pins wearing off, can i file another service claim again, also today is the last day of my warranty which is a year, so I have a question, if i file the service claim today, will i still be covered by the warranty, even though samsung wont get my watch until ups deliver it to them, which is a few days away,by then my warranty will be expired, so will samsung go by the service claim date, or am I out of luck, thanks guys.

SM-G9287 Registration for Warranty Coverage?

To get covered under 1 yr warranty from manufacture we have to register this product for coverage. Companies like cpscentral and portectyourbubble who cover drop, spill and other things say that for the first year if any malfunction happens we have to reach out to Samsung.Problem is that I am not seeing a way to register this product as I am not sure which Samsung site to use to register.
Google search says this model is released from Taiwan so should be go that site to register? I cant give any Taiwan Address to register as I don't leave there. The seller from ebay didnt respond to the question so i am kind unsure what to do. Any Ideas?

(Square trade charges 138 dollars per year to cover accidental drop and spills for phones bought from ebay which is very high and its better to use that money for repair in case the unfortunate event happens)

Samsung Pay: Voided Phone warranty, with Gear S2

I was curious, would we be able to use Samsung Pay on the Gear S2 if the device its connected with has a voided warranty? (i.e. rooted before).

Ill be getting the Gear S2, but have been holding off on rooting my phone to see how Samsung Pay really is.

Motorola isn't a good company in terms of warranty

Hello guys
In many threads, I saw that unlocking the bootloader won't void the warranty but in the live chat they have a different opinion. Take a look at my conversation and what they told me (I'm Anastasios and motorola is the other guy)

Code:

Santhosh: Hi, my name is Santhosh. How may I help you?

Anastasios: Hello, I want to know about voiding the warranty. Does the warranty breaks if you unlock the bootloader?

Santhosh: I will do my best to help you with this. Before we move any further, would you please help me confirm your email, location and phone we are dealing with?

Anastasios: My email is tasos****@gmail.com, Location Greece and the phone is moto e 2nd gen 4g xt1524

  Santhosh: Thanks for the information.

Santhosh: Yes unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of the mobile.

Anastasios: But take a look here.  http://fsfe.org/freesoftware/legal/flashingdevices.en.html
Anastasios: it says that unlocking the bootloader isn't a sufficient reason to breaks the warranty in the europe

Santhosh: Please go through the agreement details when you start the bootloader unlocking it clearly states the warranty void.

Anastasios: so, you say that the stuff the europe counsil decides are not of your bussiness. Here the official article about the rights of the consumer  http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:31999L0044&from=EN

Santhosh: Please go through the warranty policy information on this page.
  Santhosh:  https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a

Anastasios: Yeah, but you still did not gave me the wanted anwser. The Europe Laws say different things that you claim. So what shoud I do? Should I listen to the europe or to you (motorola)?

Santhosh: Only when you accept these conditions and go to the next page you can unlock the bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of the mobile.
Santhosh: You can go through the legal terms here.  https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/741421/1385047216/redirect/1/filename/Boot_revised.pdf

Anastasios: In every single site that it is for the unlocking part, claim that unlocking the bootloader won't void the warranty if you live in Europe. Is that wrong?
Santhosh: We request you check our official website conditions to unlock the bootloader.

Anastasios: ok then thanks. You won a thread in the XDA forum about how bad are you in terms of warranty and legal stuff. BYE
  You have disconnected.

Edge is at Samsung for Signal Issues - Warranty Claim

So, my phone is in the hands of technicians with Samsung over signal issues.. Most likely there's nothing wrong, but I figured; free claim/support, why not? I've been keeping track which I think is pretty informative however the most recent entry is troubling.. I don't know if they're referring to new or old scratches.. I knew there were a couple very small scratches on it but nothing at all serious.. am I just being paranoid?

Root in locked bootloader and warranty

Hi, sorry if it was answered before but i don't seem to found it.

I bought a z3 compact d5803 international gsm unlocked, and I'm confused about root, warranty and drm keys.

If I gain root access but keep the bootloader locked (i saw it can be done with some kind of exploit), do i loose warranty and/or do i lose drm keys? My bootloader can be unlocked, but don't want to do that if not necessary.

The current android version is 5.1.1 (compilation version 23.4.A.0.546).

Thanks in advance!
