I rooted my S4 yesterday (or so I thought) using the Kingoapp program, after motochopper (tomsguide.com/us/samsung-galaxy-s4-guide,review-2798-4.html) did not work. It said the root was successful but both version of the super user app in my app drawer after were unable to update. Kingo currently says "The Kingo Superuser binary (SU) must be updated or reinstalled". After downloading and running Root Checker it says root is not properly installed.
I rooted my HTC evo a few years ago and that's the last time I was flashing ROMs or going into recovery (clockwork) to mess with my phone. But it looks like I might need to do the same to get this S4 working? I figured there wasn't a root out for the phones on 5.0 yet, but that something should work for mine since I didn't upgrade it from 4.4.2.
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel: 3.4.0-2162929
If any other info is needed just lmk.
Thanks!
