Soft brick because of AT&T update?

Just got a update for my LG G Flex D950 from AT&T. I didn't think twice, and hit update. Now my phone will only go to TWRP. I'm using TWRP v2.8.6.0 any suggestions? All I've done is root it, it has the original ROM it came with.

The Sky Go app and Sky Movies apps will not play on my device because of root check

Hello everyone
I am not a developer but would appreciate any helpful feedback, preferably in layman's language, that anyone might be able to offer to a problem that I am having with my android device, running version 4.2.2, a large Hannspree 13.3 tablet. I bought the tablet about six months ago and I am happy with the general performance. However, recently I downloaded a number of streaming media apps from Google Play Store including the Sky Go and Sky Movies apps and also the All4 Channel 4 on demand app. When I tried to run these apps, I got a message saying 'These apps are not supported on rooted devices'. I am led to believe that the Hannspree 13.3 is rooted by default at manufacture although I did not know this at the time of purchase and indeed, at that time I was totally ignorant about 'rooting'. For this reason, I have not yet opted to do a factory reset of my device because, if true, then this would not solve the issue. After researching comments on a number of internet forums, I came across several suggestions as to how to resolve the issue. I opted for downloading the SuperSU app, which then enabled me, via the app settings, to perform a 'full unroot', which I duly did. By downloading a root checker app, I was able to verify that my large Hannspree tablet is now unrooted. However, when I tried the Sky Go and Sky Movies apps after unrooting, I still got an error message 'Not supported on rooted devices'. I no longer get the 'rooted app' message when I play the All4 app, but the app doesn't play, it simply hangs. Therefore, and I have been in touch with the Sky Community forums, these streaming media apps all still perceive my device to be rooted but it is not, although someone from the Sky Community forum suggested that there still must be traces of the original rooting in the OS/firmware which the Sky apps and other streaming media apps are picking up on. I tried, on advice, a hide root app but when I tried this, I get a message saying 'Cannot find the su binaries'. When I tried to reinstall SuperSU I got a similar message 'Cannot locate the su binaries and SuperSU cannot install them. This is a problem'. It seems that the original unrooting has removed the su binaries and I cannot now try hide root apps. However, there must be some trace of root that the streaming media apps are still picking up on.

Would anyone know how to remove these traces of root. I did read somewhere, another suggestion from a forum, that it was possible to manually unroot a device by using a file manager app and deleting su binaries from system/bin and system/xbin directories and deleting superuser.apk from system/apps directory. However having browsed system directory with root browser in the ROM toolbox app, the su binaries are not present in the system/bin or system/xbin which, I suppose, is further verification that my device is now unrooted. But it can't be fully unrooted, otherwise surely the streaming media apps would play.

Should I do a factory reset to restore the device to its default (presumably rooted) state and then manually delete the su as described above?

The curious thing is that the streaming media apps work perfectly on my smaller Hannspree 10.1 device, which obviously is not rooted and not perceived as rooted.

Is it possible to install the operating system of my smaller Hannspree device onto my larger Hannspree device? I tried the 'check available updates' in the About tablet tab in Settings but I get an error message on my large Hannspree device to the effect of 'Error invalid ROM ID' so cannot do an update, or check for an update.

Can any of you techies out there help?

Mobile Data 'disconnected because service is unavailable' Htc one M8

I unlocked the bootloader of my Htc One m8 gsm a few weeks ago. I installed TWRP recovery and then cm12. I made a backup of my stock rom before doing a wipe. I then expeirenced that the mobile data was not working on the new rom. I also tried the GPE 5.1 lollipop rom but to no avail. There was a ' ! ' mark beside the service bar and no icon appeared in my status bar whenever I turned mobile data on. Today I restored my phone back to the stock (sense) rom and still mobile data is not workinng.
I can not understand the problem. It just says 'disconnected because service is unavailable'. I have been able to recieve text messages/calls the whole time, just the mobile data does not work.

Questions about editing build.prop because of ram management

Hey all,

I'm really starting to get tired of the terrible ram management on the s6. A few months ago I read about editing build . prop. So, I'm planning on doing this, but I've got a few questions first:

-is it still effective after the 5.1.1 update?
-is there a better "fix"?

Also, I've read somewhere that changing dha to fha has a better result. Can anyone confirm this and explain how to do this?

[solved] ZL dead, no reaction (because of faulty battery) - emergenc charge method

I had an issue with my phone and resolved it, this is me sharing this particular error and solution.
First the Problem:
I had my ZL running low on charge and the next morning it would not react to anything.

• pushing buttons (and a combination of buttons, like power+volumeup) did not work


• connecting it to the charger


• connecting to pc did not show the device or trigger a reaction (did not show up in device manager)

Solution (try on your own risk!!!):
Open the backcover of the device (i used the IFIXIT disassembly guide).
You dont need to remove the main curcuit board, you just need to disconnect the flex-cable of the battery shown in the picture below, the pink marker shows the battery connector (top right).

I bent the connector so that it was accessible with my universel charger, which looks like this

I connected the two marked connectors go to the + and - on the flex-cable of the battery and the charger signaled that it was charging the battery.
I guess you can use any universal charger of this fashion. Do not use your standard usb charger, it's dangerous!
After 10-20 minutes i reassembled the phone and was able to charge it normally, start it up, etc.

I'm no expert but this is what I think happend:
A completely drained and at the same time worn out battery did not allow chrging the divice. Mine was 20 months old. The phone controls the charging process I think, so maybe there was not enough power left for that.
I will be replacing my devices battery with a new one and I suggest the same I you have had the same problem.

laggy performance in google play music and google play store because of lastpass app

just an fyi for anyone with less than stellar performance while scrolling within google play music or google play store. i finally pinpointed the issue to the app fill feature in lastpass. see the screenshots while scrolling in google play music:

while scrolling what the hell is lastpass doing in the list? (the answer: google play music ui has a search bar... so it's watching or a field to fill in:

the next step of action is to login to the lastpass app and complete the following:

1. open up the lastpass app


2. goto settings


3. tap on app fill


4. verify you see "fill logins in other apps" enabled (only happens with enabled)


5. tap "edit app fill settings"


6. Scroll down to "Google Play Music" and tap


7. tap the checkbox named "Do not show fill window"


8. tap ok


9. exit out of lastpass


10. observe the sweet scrolling action in google play music.


11. rinse, wash and repeat for any other app giving you trouble

the results? check out the cpu list now while in google play music!
