my s3 is very slow and laggy...

hi i have a Samsung Galaxy s3 international version running stock rom it was very slow so i did a factory reset hoping it would be like new but nothing changed its still slow
ps : i copied most of my data back on it, and download some basic apps on it
please help ASAP

Phone is laggy even when cold

Has anybody else found this. For example, unlocking the phone. Or turning the alarm off. Or pulling down the notification shade. Very laggy - 5 to 10 seconds to respond sometimes. My z3y was MUCH more responsive.

Sent from my Xperia Z3+/Z4.

5.1.1, some features are very laggy (phone, clock, notifications), why?

Hello guys,

I hope you can help me with this so please, read on. I am trying out 5.1.1 (CM 12.1) for a few weeks but I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong in my particular case.

I am running this version of CM12.1. No custom kernels, no kernel editing at all. I am running Nova Launcher. I have a 64GB external microSD card, which is half full and my internal storage has 3.8 GB of space left.

My issues are with the responsiveness. For example I have issues taking calls. It goes like this, if the screen is off (phone locked):
-caller hears one or sometimes even two rings
-my phone starts vibrating
-after one second or so my phone starts actually "ringing" with sound
-after two-three seconds the screen goes on and I am able to take the call
By that time the caller already has heard four or five rings and after the sixth one the mailbox kicks in. This is terrible. If the screen is on, the issue is nearly gone, since the phone is much more responsive.
My buddy's HTC ONE vibrates, rings and enables screen INSTANTLY when a call comes in. Yes, he has a stronger phone but I'd think the most basic function would always work.

I get similiar issues with timers, notifications etc. They feel "delayed", first the vibration, then the sound, then the screen. Looking at a black screen for 5 seconds while the timer is beeping crazy is not very nice.

The phone feels fine otherwise, some apps (Open Camera) take long to open up but I guess that's just the old age of the hardware. My main problems are with the core functions (phone...).

I like lollipop, especially ART, but I am thinking of going back to CM11, since it felt a bit more responsive and I had no troubles getting calls.

I am glad about any help I can get. Thanks in advance guys. XDA rocks.:fingers-crossed:

Poor SoT and little bit laggy

As in title. Running atm stock 5.1.1 with elementalx kernel ( tried going back to stock one ). At best get 5 h SoT but mostly 4 ( from what I can see people get on average 7-8 hours. Tried clean flashing it once again, tried lollipaloza ( meh ). In addition to that I think the performance of my N9 is pretty weak ( gets laggy on home screen, switching between apps, some games ). Any suggestion about fix ( maybe matter of ROM or kernel? )In worst case scenario will probably just send it back to HTC service.
Cheers

laggy performance in google play music and google play store because of lastpass app

just an fyi for anyone with less than stellar performance while scrolling within google play music or google play store. i finally pinpointed the issue to the app fill feature in lastpass. see the screenshots while scrolling in google play music:

top apps by cpu

com.google.android.music:ui:
surfaceflinger
com.lastpass.lpandroid
system_server

while scrolling what the hell is lastpass doing in the list? (the answer: google play music ui has a search bar... so it's watching or a field to fill in:

the next step of action is to login to the lastpass app and complete the following:
  1. open up the lastpass app

  2. goto settings

  3. tap on app fill

  4. verify you see "fill logins in other apps" enabled (only happens with enabled)

  5. tap "edit app fill settings"

  6. Scroll down to "Google Play Music" and tap

  7. tap the checkbox named "Do not show fill window"

  8. tap ok

  9. exit out of lastpass

  10. observe the sweet scrolling action in google play music.

  11. rinse, wash and repeat for any other app giving you trouble

the results? check out the cpu list now while in google play music!

com.google.android.music:ui
system_server
surfaceflinger
com.android.systemui

(no damm lastpass process!!!)

i would post picture, but i'm only posting my third post.. so i'm limited until 10 :(

anyway wasn't sure if anyone else had this problem with their G3.. much happier now that i'm not thinking i was going nuts because of the lag!!!!

Rock ON!
