Swiftkey Slide Left to Delete

minor problem but very annoying. since i upgraded to note 5 from my s3 i don't know what it is but i've been having trouble sliding to delete a word. often it takes a few swipes for it to register and it's nearly impossible to delete multiple words consecutively.

anyone else have this problem? or any tricks/advice to doing it? perhaps i am doing it wrong :crying::confused:
