Replace Kindle OS with Android OS

Hi, I have a Kindle Fire HDX 4th gen 8.9" running Kindle OS 4.5.5. I would like to turn it into a pure Android tablet. It looks like the development of procedure is still in work. Can I turn off auto updates or block OS updates so I can let development catch up to my OS. Currently, I just keep my wifi turned off. Does anyone know when a procedure for this Kindle will be ready?
