[Q][Help]Xperia Neo V screen doesnt work but phone does

So last year i was using xperia neo v before it fell on the ground and turned off. When i tried to open it the phone was responsive (i could hear the sound while turning on) but the screen remained black. While charging it was still working and the led was on but still screen was black. I dissambled the phone and the lcd display was not broken at all.
I saw online that a new one costs only 10€ so i would like to know whether buying a new one would fic the problem or not. The reason is that lately i want to get started with rooting my devices but i dont want to make a firts try on my new gal s3 neo.
