Oneplus one mic not working cm12.1

Hello I recently updated my oneplus one to cm12.1 via the ota update. About a week later my mic stopped working. It doesn't work for calls or in apps like Google now or sound recorder. Speaker phone will still work for calls though. I contacted oneplus support and they suggested that I flash oxygen os using the new tool that let's you do it without data loss however I got an error message and was unable to install it.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? I'm not experienced at rooting or unlocking my bootoader or anything like that.
