Need to update n2 ,to give to a friend

Hello , was wondering if any one still lurking here in the Note 2 threads could help out. I have a stock ATT Note 2 I am going to give to a friend . It has been sitting in a drawer since the Note 3 came out .Current 4.1.2 baseband I317UCAMH3 .Since I no longer have an active sim that will fit this phone , how would I update to the most current stock release(What is the current release as well). Any other things i need to check before sending to my friend , as she is not a techie and just plans to use the phone on straight talk.
