ES Explorer

Hi, Can you install apk apps from a computer? I am trying to keep my Kindle Fire HDX 4gen 8.9" from auto updating. I need to install ES File Explorer File Manager. I transferred the file from my computer to the Kindle but haven't found a way to install it on the Kindle. Any ideas? Thanks,
