Can your TF300 be replaced?

I recently had a scare where something like a single drop of water got into my keyboard dock and the "T" key went unresponsive. I disassembled the dock, but I was afraid to pop the three "tension-teeth" nuts near the trackpad and so I couldn't really clean out the keyboard. I did the best I could and put it back together and then it was worse because the "T" was pressed all the time.

Eventually it got better, but after a day without my tablet, I came to realize how much I depend on the very specific skillset the TF300 gives me. I have an excellent Core i7 laptop from work, but it isn't as portable as my tablet, so I usually leave it at home. The battery doesn't last as long as my tablet even without the dock. The laptop doesn't have a touchscreen, either, so I can't use it for recording lectures using the tablet as a whiteboard. I write exams and even do some coding with the keyboard, but I can also disconnect it to read a book or watch the UEFA tournament on the couch.

In that panicked day, I spent a lot of time online looking for a replacement device I could afford and could justify buying when I have a perfectly good (and free) laptop at my disposal. I looked first to ASUS, but the TF103c seemed to be a step down from the TF300 and ASUS seems to be headed more towards bargain tablets and the Windows market. Since I use the tablet as a whiteboard recorder, I was tempted to find a device with an active stylus (VivoTab, Surface Pro, Galaxy Note Pro), but everything was practically in the 00+ range.

So my question to you is this - if you couldn't have another TF300, what device would you replace it with?
