Removing branding

Hello people

I just acquired a shiny new Edge+ and it's very nice. Except for the awful operating branding a bloatware. I would like to remove this but it's been a while since I went down the Samsung / KIES flashing route.

I guess I can flash something from sammobile.com, i.e. one of these ROMs? http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G928F/. I have build number G928FDPX1AOGI so I have quite a few options on which is the most suitable firmware to flash :-/ With the 'Unknown' country / carrier field, only the CSC varies and it's not clear which one I would need.

I'd be grateful for a pointer on flashing this. Do I need to unlock the bootloader to do what I want?

Thanks in advance.

Semibricked LG G4 after removing bloat apks

Hi all,

I semi-bricked my device (815) while cleaning from bloatware.
The last stuff I cleaned were some drm-stuff from LG which might caused my booting being stuck at Boot with Security Error, Authentication failed.
I am rooted and on Genisys 1.0 Rom and I would reflash it with command Flash but I removed the System.img from my internal sd Card.
I managed to copy it to the external sd Card but can't get the proper command to Flash it from there. Maybe the external sd Card is not even mounted in Download Mode?
Unfortunately I have no custom recovery installed so flashing a zip over this method is not possible.
Hard Reset of the phone is not working, there Comes a small error message with "secure boot not working".
Any ideas? :(

Best regards,
Matze

Nova Launcher Removing Apps From Home Screen After Update

Hey guys, I'm encountering a problem where every now and then where apps will get updated automatically and then they'll get removed from the home screen. I saw another post (albeit from 2013) with a similar problem, however with theirs only the actual icon would be removed and a space would still be present when the app was in a drawer. There seems to be no pattern as to whether they get removed or not, some will go a couple of updates without being removed.

I'm running the latest update of Nova (4.0.2.) on an Xperia Z3 also running the latest update of Lollipop (5.1.1), I want to say that this problem has only started occurring when I'd updated it to 5.1.1, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Many thanks guys!

Removing "Call Settings" From The Settings Menu in 2.3

Can someone tell me how to remove the "Call Settings" menu in the Settings.apk? I've tried decompiling the settings.apk and removing:

Quote:

<com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen android:title="@string/call_settings_title" android:key="call_settings" settings:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_call">
<intent android:targetPackage="com.android.phone" android:action="android.intent.action.MAIN" android:targetClass="com.android.phone.CallFeature sSetting" />
</com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen>

from the settings.xml file. But after recompiling and placing it back in the rom I get "process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly" after opening the settings menu. If I decompile and recompile it without changing anything it works fine though.

Removing Wi-fi notifications on Lollipop (I have root)

Hi folks, I'm new here although I've benefited a lot from the information I've read. I have an s-off'ed, rooted m8.

Specifically, I couldn't find any information about how to remove the Verizon Wifi notification on Lollipop, even with root access. There is a thread about KitKat (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1761900), but it doesn't seem to apply to Lollipop -- the database entry isn't there. I've been looking in the databases on my phone using SQLite Editor, but I can't seem to find a relevant entry.

I know I could install a custom ROM to get rid of the notifications, but I've used things like Cyanogen and Viper in the past, and they are too buggy. I prefer the stock ROM (5.0.1). Similarly, I know I could install Xposed, but I don't want to do that unless as a last resort, since the Lollipop version is still in alpha.

So, my question is, where is the database entry for disabling the Verizon Wifi notifications on Lollipop? Has anyone found it?

Many thanks!

Erasing tablet of accounts/settings after removing kill switch?

Hey guys/girls, could anybody please tell me the best way of erasing personal info and "almost" going to factory settings but still retain the erased kill switch?

I'm on stock lollipop OS rooted with TegraOTA.apk deleted, but I have stock recovery, and do not wish to flash lollipop again so what ever is the easiest way without any chance of being stuck in situations requiring reflashing etc.

I noticed a backup and restore options in settings app, so maybe that's where to start?
