Is it safe to unlock on pre-rooted firmware?

I decided to unlock my D6503 today. I backuped my TA partition and im ready to unlock. But if i unlock my phone in Pre-rooted firmware is there any chance of getting bootlocked or bricked?

Safe to upgrade from 4.4.4 to 5.1 by flashing AOSP 5.1

I have a moto e xt1021 (single sim) on kitkat 4.4.4 and I want to upgrade it to Lollipop AOSP 5.1.
So far, there have been no OTA updates to lollipop.
I've heard that lollipop has a different bootloader to kitkat, so i'm unsure if i can simply flash a lollipop rom.
Is there any way I can get lollipop on my phone?

If not, i'll just have to wait for the OTA update (if it ever happens).
Also, do rooted phones still get updates? Mine is rooted, but it's on stock rom with xposed framework.

My nexus 7 2013 is still on 5.0.2 stock. I held off on updating because I heard people were getting bricked. Is it safe for me to take the 5.1 system update (169.7mb)?

Moto Apps: which are safe to disable?

Safe to update to latest SuperSU?

My Note 2 is rooted/unlocked with CASUAL. I am running Beans stock 4.3 ROM.

I am running SuperSU version 1.8 but the Play store shows an update to version 2.46

Is it safe to run this update? Is it advisable to update?

How safe is Samsung Pay?

I'm all for consolidation, but there's something that keeps me from wanting to use Google Wallet and/or Samsung Pay.

I know that, specifically with Samsung Pay, they say their token system is even safer than swiping the actual card because of all the data located on the magnetic strip.

However, where is the original information stored when we first take a picture of our card? That image and the information we put in our phones must be stored somewhere, right? How truly secure is our data when we first put it in the Samsung Pay app?

My biggest fear is, wherever that storage location is, that our data will somehow get hacked in the future...

Thoughts?

Safe to update or not?

Hello guys!
Yesterday I got a notification that Lollipop 5.1.1 is available for my Xperia Z. Yay!
The problem I'm facing is that I have rooted with KingRoot + script. No recovery installed.
What will happen if i update?
Will my root access disappear? Will I brick my device cos i have no recovery installed? What do you guys think?
I got too used to a different DPI and system font and I don't wanna go back to stock..

S4A i537 AT&T Stuck in Safe Mode

Hello all,

I'll try to be brief, but descriptive.

Months ago I tested out a used S4A in sink... it got wet. I dried it out and it was working mostly fine. Changed the charging port/ribbon cable and worked fine except for the menu button was dead.

Rooted device with Towelroot and was getting ready to try and install custom ROM, why for some reason I deleted Towelroot app and restarted. Phone has since been stuck in Safe mode. I can install apps like safestrap, but can't get to them, being in safe mode.

I've tried flashing a custom recovery, and many factory resets after attempting "try this" and try that's" from forums. Nothing has worked.

I used to have an HTC that had a ROM mounted onto an SD card that I could run from RAM (at least I think thats how it worked), is that possible on this device? or is there any other solution to this?

[Q] Stuck in Safe Mode with malfunctioning volume

Hey so I'm new around here and have a not-so-quick-question. I have a Nexus 5 that's about a year old and was recently caught in the rain with it. The little trooper seems to be doing fine, except the down volume down key is not working (and that I'm totally okay with). Only problem was that when I restarted the phone it took me into fastboot (presumably because it thought I was holding down the volume button). Now because of that I can only seem to start in Safe Mode and can't access my downloaded apps. I've heard of a few people having similar problems and have read some threads on it but haven't been able to come up with a solution. Anyone know what I'm talking about and feel like coming to my rescue???

Some renders have emerged that suggest Samsung’s “other” flagship phone will see only minor hardware revisions in its latest iteration. The Note 5, it appears, will follow closely from the Note 4. But honestly, that’s a really good thing.

With the Note phones, what Samsung has managed to do is spearhead a new part of the market. No one did big phones to much success before the Note, and I remember laughing a lot when the first one was launched. My tune had changed by the time I used it, and when the second rolled around my friend James had managed to sell me so comprehensively on it that I had to have one.

Having established the Note as somewhat of a flagship device, it seems that Samsung wants to keep this phone a little less controversial than the S6 and S6 Edge. For example, I’d be very surprised if the company took away the removable battery and microSD card on this phone, if anything the Note is more of a fanboy device than the Galaxy S is, so to do so would spell trouble for the firm.

On the other hand, I think there’s a really good chance Samsung will switch away from Qualcomm again on the Note. That makes sense as Samsung has had no real problems with the processors in the Galaxy S6, its first high-end phone to totally shun Qualcomm in some time. I don’t really buy into the idea that the Snapdragon 810 overheats – the Sony Xperia Z3+ issues are something else, and Sony has always had heat problems in the Z series. Qualcomm’s issue now is one of perception, and that has become a real problem with the 810.

Even if the hardware was just a minor upgrade from the Note 4, it seems like the big deal for Samsung at the moment is software. The S6, for example, has cut down dramatically on the things that power users like me dislike, which is that extra bloat and customisation found on most Android phones of old. If you haven’t seen the S6, it’s worth taking a look just to see the effort that Samsung has gone to with the OS. It’s not perfect of course, but it’s a step in the right direction.

The Note 5 is likely to incorporate many of the other features. Samsung will want its Pay service on there, especially with Apple and Google’s payment services gather momentum. It feels like this aspect of the S6 has failed to make any headway yet. Rumours suggest it will launch in the US and Korea in H2 this year, but time will tell if that’s accurate. Every moment Samsung waits though it will lose ground to Google. Apple Pay isn’t a competitor here, but Google might spoil Samsung’s service if it gains more ground.

Personally I’m more interested in seeing the camera features make the move from the S6 to the Note 5. The fast-start access from the home button has, weirdly, proven to be a really nice feature about the S6, and one I really struggle with when I use other phones now. Samsung has also nailed the camera on the S6 to the point where it leads in both benchmarks and in subjective terms.

Samsung will also need to move the Note over to the same fingerprint scanner as is in the S6. I’ll be honest, the fingerprint scanner in the Note 4 is just awful, and was easily my least favourite aspect of that phone. The S6 addresses it, and while I think the iPhone still leads here, I think Samsung has the scanner to the point where most people would be happy to use it.

I’m also interested to see what happens with wireless charging on the Note. Samsung has tended to ignore this feature but included it with the S6 and added support for both Qi and Powermat charging, which is nifty and a first. I really hope Samsung doesn’t leave it out of the Note 5, as again it was one of the things I liked best about the S6, and something that is really handy if you just want to plonk the phone on a charging mat and have it charge.

So while the design leak for the Note 5 doesn’t exactly scream “major changes ahead” from the rooftops, it looks like the sort of stability that Samsung needs in its popular phone. I’ve spoken before about Samsung’s surprise at the way the Note took off. It was only ever supposed to be a niche device but it has become much more of that.

Whatever you believe about the S6 sales – it’s hard to judge without actually having official numbers – the Note 5 may be an even more important part of Samsung’s portfolio from now on. And let’s be honest, choice is a good thing.

Is it safe to flash custom ROM just after rooting for S3 T mobile

Hi Folks,

I had rooted my Galaxy S3 T mobile SGH T-999 running stock 4.3 by the towelroot method. Root was successful. SuperSU asked me whether to disable knox, I said OK and it gave me a message that Knox is disabled successfully. Now i am planning to install TWRP recovery and flash Slimkat or Cyanogen ROMs. Please let me know whether it is fine to flash ROMs now, because I am concerned with KNOX and other stuffs that may cause issues. This phone is carrier unlocked legally. So will it again lock after flashing new ROMs? Please help me on this.

[Q] XT-1050 safe flash and roms

Hi everyone, I recently got a moto x and the reason I bought it was because motorola announced that it was going to recieve lollipop 5.1 so, specs/value was great for me and unfortunatly without an extensive research I bought the version from the title xt1050, as you may know it can't unlock the bl via motorola web site and it didn't recieve the OTA from 5.1 yet. So after recieving one OTA (4.4.2) I checked with sunshine and it's compatible. Before spending another I wanted to be sure.. I've been reading a lot of this forum and I couldn't find the answer to this questions.

Which ROMs can I flash without harming my device? I mean, can I flash roms from the xt1058 or xt1060? The last one has the same FCC id so, what does that mean?
Considerations to avoid a hard brick? I've read a lot about not downgrading the bootloader so I was thinking to follow this thread to get 5.1:

Another thing it's bugging me is that I only get about an hour and a half or two with luck of screen time through a day running stock, batery life it's really that bad or 4.4.2 has some nasty bug that I'm not aware?

I have an LG G4 from Kroger-iwireless. Although it is the LS991 and (AFAIK) I'm on Sprint's towers/network , am I OK to root? What if I needed to return to stock, does anyone know how the stock software from iwireless vs. Sprint differs, if at all? Thanks!
