Poor sound quality over headphones with microphone

Hello,

Today I got new headphones but the sound quality is poor. I think it may be due to headphones having microphone - thus 4-pole connector. I know there are more types of these connectors, and I don't really need a microphone so I was wondering if something like this would help.

Microphone goes silent during call (hardware problem)

Hi guys, I had this problem for a long time, i want to make the story very short. My microphone becomes silent after 1 minute of use. I used the stock voice recorder to check it without the need to call someone. People get annoyed because they can't speak to me. Sometimes the microphone is silent from the very beginning of a conversation. I hear them well but they can't hear me. Once i've changed the mic flex cable/usb port plate and it looked like it worked fine for about a month. Then the problem came back. Could it be the motherboard? Did anyone experience something similar? I had to repair my camera right after buying it second hand. The technician told me the phone was in touch with water after he replaced the back camera.

CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM microphone issue

After installing the CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM on my g800Y, when using my phone through bluetooth for calls the person on the recieving end complains that all they can hear is a 'wind noise' but when phone changed back to handset earpiece and speakerphone all is fine. Is there a setting for the microphone sensitivity on bluetooth calls?

External Microphone Volume

I own the Klipsch R6M headphones and the built in microphone is very low. Nobody can hear me unless I yell or press the microphone hole up to my lips. This does not occur in any other Android device I plug it into. I figured I'd grab AlsaMixer and boost the external microphone input but I am unable to figure out which option is the right one. Does anyone know? Either that or does anyone know how I would go about boosting the external microphone input volume another way? I'm desperate here. Thank you in advance for the help.

[note 3] bad gsm signal after microphone replacement

Hey guys,

I hope you can help me.

I recently replaced my old microphone board on my Samsung note 3 with a new one since I was having problem with the microphone.
I bought an original new board but with a different revision.

My previous revision was rev. 0.9 while the new one is 1.1.

The problem is that with the new board the microphone works very well but a have a very bad GSM signal. (Gsm and microphone are on the same board).

I think this happened because the revision is different.
Is there anything I can do in order to solve the problem? May be by using a software update?

Thank you!

Microphone not working properly

I'm having a really weird problem lately. If I make a phone call, the mic is not working at all until I switch to speaker. However, if I receive a call, it works just fine. Anyone else having the same problem?

Low microphone performance

Hi,

I've already asked this question on Cyanogenmod forum but it was never answered. Here, on xda-developers I see that people encountered the same problem on HTC One Mini - low microphone performance while using Cyanogenmod (see this post for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-...ld-m4-t2985009 - I would like to take part in discussion but as my account has been created a minute ago I can't respond to 'development' post).

Someone stated, that this is common issue of Lollipop - I'm not an expert but I wound't say so. My HTC One Mini performs really well in terms of call quality and reception. The only issue I have with it using Cyanogenmod is the microphone performance. Just after installing CM people I called complained about they don't hear me well (it didn't happen while using stock Android).

I would really like to try some of the unofficial CM12 for my One mini, but call quality (both way) is a critical thing for me. Is it possible to help fixing this issue? I would like to help. If providing some logs/statistics/anything makes sense then let me know.

Cheers,
Jakub

Microphone recommendation for recording acoustic guitar ?

Howdy y'all ... I play guitar, and like to sit on my screened-in back porch on beautiful summer evenings and play my acoustic. Recently I've begun to record my playing using the voice recorder on my phone ( I'm using a Note 2 with the Alliance ROM ). This approach works, but the resulting quality of recording is about what you'd expect from the built in mic. Are there suggestions / recommendations for an external mic you might be able to share? the only requirement I would have is that it be able to plug into my phone directly; in a perfect world it wouldn't require batteries or have an external power brick. Any help would be great, thanks!

Well everybody, as it has been asked many times now so i bring you the guide to increase the ""Microphone Gain"" on lollipop.
You will need to make some changes to the mixer_paths.xml content located in system/etc.
Open in Notepad++ or editor of choice and search for <path name="rec-main-mic">.
See below for what to edit,be careful not to adjust more than the value stated.
Save and set permissions to 644 or rw-r-r then reboot.

No speaker or microphone, even after I replaced parts

Hi,

My old Nexus 5 (vanilla 5.1.1 not rooted) is malfunctioning.

There is no sound coming from the speaker in the bottom of the phone and the microphone is not picking up any sound when making a normal call and/or recording a video.
The speaker at the top of the phone however, is working. So I hear people in phone calls, but they do not hear me.
Now to the strange part: If I change to the loud speaker while in a call it's the opposite; I can not hear them but they can hear me.
If I connect headphones into the headphone jack I can hear sound both in calls and in video playback.

So to summarize:
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds): No sound
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds) with headphones: Sound working
Recording video: No sound recorded
Making a phone call: Sound but no microphone
Making a phone call with loudspeaker on: No sound but microphone working
Making a phone call with handsfree connected: Not tested (I have no headphones with mic).

And what's even more strange is that I just replaced the flex cable with the microphone and charging dock and also the entire speaker with new parts from eBay. And guess what... it's still not working!!! :(

Flex cable I replaced: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281669874921
Speaker I replaced: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252003488330

Followed this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPuCmfhzgbg

What now? I really thought the replacement parts would solve this. :crying:

Any help is highly appreciated!

Regards
P-H, Sweden
