4K video on 1080p - CPU usage

I've just tried a 4K h264 video on MX Player with HW+ acceleration and everything goes fine. The doubt is: what about CPU and downsampling?

I mean, my doubt is about what happens. When the HW computates the 4K video, does it render it directly in 1080p or it renders it in 4k and than it downsamples it to 1080p? Because in the first case the CPU and HW usage would be a lot lower than the second case.

Is there a way to enable 60fps 1080p?

So i used xCam on my G2 and G3 and always enabled 1080p at 60fps which was my desired recording setting but there are no options and xCam doesnt work on the G4. Is there a way to enable this?
Rooted of course.

HDMI screen zoom - not full 1080p?

I bought a UG007 android hdmi stick to watch films in 1080p on my hdtv. however, when I start the device, it doesn't fill the whole screen. It starts to fill it only once I turn the slider in the "screen zoom" part of the settings. I worry that I may not be getting full 1080p image but rather something upscaled. With the screen zoom slider at its lowest setting, it looks like this:


The problem (?) is not solved even if I put some other firmware (Finless Rom with a 1080p kernel) on the device.

1080p toggle in custom ROMs

I just read the XDA article for the Z5 Premium and how it switches automatically between 1080p and 4k resolution when it sees fit. I think this is an excellent idea for developers to implement into their ROMs. Why don't we have such a feature? Or even a simple toggle that we can select that would change the build.prop or something to switch between QHD and 1080p? Would it be too hard to included or something?

Just wondering, its a really neat feature.

hi , i've tested on my note 4 the 1080p with 480 of density but it is not convenient for its screen of 5.7" can someone give me the good resolution with a correct density for a 5.7"
PS : i'm looking to boost battery life on my note and gain some fps in games

Increase battery life by lowering screen resolution to 1080p

Here is a little tutorial I have put together for the upcoming Motorola Moto X Style (Pure Edition). The new Moto X comes with a Q-HD display. Though a higher resolution might be nice it does use more battery as well. With this simple guide you can force the GPU to render the OS and everything in it, in 1080p instead of Q-HD. The display will still be Q-HD but everything on the phone, including the full Android OS, will be displayed in 1080p. This will increase S.O.T and battery life noticeably.

Prerequisites:

1) A rooted device running stock/stock based ROM.

Step 1:

Install the Terminal Emulator app from the Play Store. Download from HERE

Open the app and type the following: Code: su Grant terminal Emulator super su access.
