Long story, sorry about that. A few days ago, I decided to finally update my OPO to the latest firmware (I was resisting the change because I didn't realize how easy it would be to reacquire root. It was very easy). Once I upgraded to the new firmware, my game-modding app, Xmodgames, didn't play nicely with the upgrade. I got frustrated and gave up on my game until I could find a fix. Then I found a fix! Somebody on the XMG Facebook page suggested using Lucky Patcher to convert XMG to a system app, rebooting the phone, clearing the app data, and starting it again. Huzzah, it worked!
Maybe two days later, XMG stopped functioning as expected. Launching a game through the app worked like always, but then the second you touched the XMG console, the game would freeze dead. I tried everything; update XMG, reboot the phone, clear app cache and data, nothing worked. Now here's the tricky part; I went back into Lucky Patcher and did "something" to XMG, don't ask me what because I don't know. I think I froze it and uninstalled it, because I was trying to undo the fact that I converted it to a system app. I wanted to make it a user app again, uninstall it, and start over. I jacked that app up real good, but it never ended up being changed back to a user app.
Here's what I'm currently looking at. If I use Lucky Patcher to attempt to convert XMG to a user app, there is no such option. Only the option to convert it to a system app, which I attempt, because maybe forcing it to appear as a system app will make it convertible back to a user app. If I do this, Lucky Patcher tells me that the conversion was successful, and to restart the phone for the changes to take effect. Restarting the phone causes XMG to disappear from the app drawer, and the only way to get it back onto the phone is to reinstall it. On reinstall, it begins appearing as a system app. Uninstalling updates from the system settings causes the app to stop appearing in the app drawer (or in Titanium Backup and Lucky Patcher), but, again, reinstalling it just labels it as a system app again. Using Titanium Backup to convert it to a system app enters the phone into a conversion process that it'll never complete.
I'm at the end of my rope. I know it was once possible to convert this user app BACK to a user app (after having been converted to a system app), but I'm afraid it may no longer be a possibility. If anybody has any insight about how I can reverse this terrible tinkering, please let me know. If we assume that this process is not possible, I understand that the only conceivable way to finally remove the app from my phone would be to wipe all data on my phone. My question is, will that work, or do system apps persist to exist even through full data wipes?
I obviously don't want to have to restore my phone to factory defaults, but if that's the way it is, then that's the way it is. If anybody has any ideas for how to correct my dumbassery, please chime in. If not, then just tell me if a complete system restore will finally delete the app from my system. Thanks to all in advance.
