I've been trying to read things over, and learn rather than pestering anyone, but I'm having difficulty finding any clear tutorials and explanations on what does what, etc, so I figured I'd just ask.
First off: Model C6833 on 5.0.2. Phone is locked, I'm located in the UK, on EE 4G, phone originally from Hong Kong.
Bought on eBay around 6 months ago, was stuck on 4.4.2 and couldn't upgrade, apparently the phone was originally bought in Hong Kong, according to Sony support.
Used Flashtool to flash a rom a found on a random website, and have been updating since using OTA.
Got a 4G SIM contract the other day, and can't get 4G on the phone, confirmed it's the phone and not the sim, by placing the SIM in another phone. I've already run though all the basics, and no one in the EE shop could help, nor could they help when I called.
Is it a case of being locked out of 4G in the UK, because it was bought in another country? Could I of flashed the wrong FTF? As I've seen a program called Xperifirm which lets you choose your FTF, though I would have to choose "UK Customized".
Next, my phone can be slow at times, I've tried re-formatting, but every now and then, things are slower than I'd like them to be, and I've heard the GPE version is faster, due to less bloat-wear. Can anyone suggest the best GPE version to switch over to? As I've had a look myself, and I have no idea what to go for. I had a look at Scrubbers 5.1 GPE port, but the instructions aren't clear at all, and I don't know whether I should unlock the phone, and what the downsides of doing that are.
