Do cleaning apps really work?

I've been using clean master app on most of my devices, and I'm not sure if its a placebo effect or if it really works?

I use the cleaning part as well as the RAM boost.

My question is, do they REALLY work? Or is it just a waste of time?

I'd like to keep my devices clean and running efficiently.
