How to install monthly Nexus firmware updates without starting over?

Usually when a new Android OS version is released, I'll just start over from scratch by manually flashing the seven image files using fastboot. I then install the unencrypt kernel/boot image and also root.

Now that these security updates are coming out every month, is there an easier way in my specific situation to install the update only without having to start from scratch every time like above?

5 day N6 owner - my first monthly flash

Got my N6 from the Amazon sale. As the LMY48M factory image has just been posted, I want to make sure I do this right and not lose my data/settings since it's my first time.

Phone is XT1103. Unlocked 64 gig (non carrier/branded) but using a VZW Sim. Bootloader unlocked, rooted but still encrypted. Running TWRP-2.8.7.1. On LMY48I currently.

Are these the only commands I need to execute to update but not lose the data/settings (actual IMG file names taken from the 48M image)?

fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-shamu-moto-apq8084-71.10.img
fastboot flash radio radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.101.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Am I missing anything? I believe after I do this I will have lost root but I'll use CF-Root to get it back.

Thanks

So much for monthly updates

I was a bit excited when LG stepped up (late in the game) to say that they would be offering monthly updates, and not wait for M to fix bugs/security issues. Well it looks like 5.1.1 is once again scrapped and we will get another bug filled first edition of the latest offerings from Android.

With mediocre sales of the g4 and not tremendous changes from the g3, they just don't get it. Following the path of HTC is not a stellar move on LG's part. Heck, even HTC has been sending out updates.

Very disappointed LG.
