Recently my nexus 5 developed an issue with the power button. Pressing it to lock it would lock and then wake. From lock it would wake and then lock. From powered off you can start the boot, but the button somehow remains pressed and it goes into a bootloop, restarting the boot process at various points throughout the boot cycle.
So obviously a hardware issue right? Right.
Tear down the unit, clean out everything around the button. Reclose it up..same issue. Tear down and remove the plastic button on the case that actually presses the real power button actuator and it boots and operates fine. Soooooooooo.....the issue here seems not to be the faulty hardware is not the button that is soldered to the motherboard(the little white plastic one) but the ceramis/black button that is in the case of the unit. There are rubber deals on the button that must operate as a tension mechanism that allows the case button to pop back out after pressing thus preventing the "behind the scenes" button from remaining in a constant "activated" state.
Any thoughts on how to jimmy rig the case button? Im rocking the nexus right now with no case button and just using a piece of plastic to insert to press the motherboard button for sleep/wake/boot.
