How to start building custom roms?

Hey folks,
I'm a android developer and after my phone mess with custom rom (Fixed with the help of you guys :good: ) I got curious about how to build a custom rom?

How do you guys started?
Note : I'm just an android developer and I don't have C, C++ knowledge, But I'm very much familiar with Java :)
